I am not sure of the supplier, earlier this Summer there were days I went to Lowes and they had almost no lumber at all. I too have noticed the recent batches are pretty low quality but much higher prices.

I got my 2016 TRD Off Road from a dealer in Kirkland for $23, 400. Yes, it had 107K on it, but outside of some little branch scratches on the cab above the passenger door it is perfect, It checked out mechanically, drives great, and appears to have been well cared for. I was keeping an eye out for 2016-2019 on Carfax, and everything they have is under 50K miles, but above $35,000. Since this rig is for fun and chores but not a daily driver, I couldn't justify the price. When this one came up, I made an offer and it was the end of the month, and they said okay.
One issue. The dealers around here are all Covid crazed, so they used some cleaning product on inside that still smells strong and soapy, even after being garaged every night with the windows down. I wish I could get rid of that smell. Any suggestions?

Local carmax has the following listed
    - 2012 Trd sport with 59k miles for $30k
    - 2016 TRD sport with 23k miles for $37k
    - 2015 2wd sr5 with cloth seats with 45k miles for $30k

At least the mileage is low but those prices are ridiculous. I'm not even sure those 2nd gens cost $30k even new.

Got one of those mailers about now being a great time to trade in your car...decided to check and this came up.

I've had a bad experience with these guys in the past. I have a feeling if I showed up they would tell me there's a small scratch in my truck so the offer is now $23,000.

I just traded in a 2016 Sport with 55k and got $30k for it. Was quite happy with that.

The NYT has an article about used car pricing today. The average trade in value for any used car has increased $2,000.

Initially, when I saw so many late model low mile Tacomas on sale around here, I figured, sadly, people were getting rid of them because they couldn't make the payments due to the shutdown, and losing income. Normally, that would have depressed prices, wouldn't it? But the Corona Virus outbreak is the gift that keeps on giving.
Toyota anticipates production is down 29% in N America through October. As of May, Mexican production of the Tacoma was up in the air, with CNBC reporting online that "Mexico, unlike many U.S. states, had not given direction on when auto manufacturing would be allowed to restart as the county’s coronavirus cases have continued to rise. It’s something auto industry executives have been closely watching as they reopen American factories."

Sold: '19 TRD OR - It will always be in my heart.
Last November they had brand new 2019 4x4 Rangers going to 10K off MSRP around here. There were a couple for $27K, 4x4, leather seats etc.

I just ran my Pro through carvana and the offer is over a thousand more than I paid for the truck...I am shocked and slightly intrigued.

I don't mean to sound snooty, but who would want one? When Edmunds.com did a comparison on and off road with a Ranger, a Colorado, and a Tacoma Off Road, it showed the Ranger placed last for both categories. The Colorado was okay for road, and not-so-good for off road. The Tacoma, as you can imagine, knocked it out of the park in the off road tests.

It depends who does those stupid tests, many times the Tacoma comes in last cause of stupid shit like the fact that it rides like a truck.

Question, what are people that sell to Carvana replacing the vehicle with? Are you buying new at MSRP? Buying something else not in demand?

I can't imagine selling my truck but then I just got it less than 2 months ago.

I was looking for a used one about 2 months ago. Could barely find them used in the Bay Area. And the ones they were for sale were same price as new ‍♂️‍♂️. Ended up buying new and that took me forever to find

It may be all about supply and demand for the Tacoma. It is interesting some would be willing to pay those inflated prices for a used Tacoma. I just don't understand it. Tacoma's are good, but not that good compared to other midsize trucks.

I got a good offer for my Tacoma but I'm not selling.
Buying a new vehicle and paying taxes again is something I don't need right now. I would probably opt for a 4Runner, but those are limited as well and I'd probably end up overpaying right now.

Great time to sell if you don't need to buy anything.

Yeah, and climbs over rocks best. You have to be willing to have a truck for that, I guess.

I've owned my Tacoma for 3-4 years and have not climbed over rocks yet.... or stones for that matter.

If your's was an Off Road, you certainly could. How's yours in the snow?
