What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I was just at Tahoe 3 weeks ago. Loved it. We will be back!!

 

Where did you come up from? The crowds this summer have been crazy. Like 4th of july all summer.

 

Got new tires installed on the FB Marketplace come-up wheels. Happy with what has been done so far, but always ready for the next. (thinking skid plates)

 

San Diego and we came up the east side to Reno and went over

maybe not the best choice of words, but that's what I was getting at. when logging companies are allowed to retrieve good wood and keep the amount of under brush and "Fuel" out of the forests the better off we seemed to be. When this was the norm, I don't remember there being these massive fires where all this property was destroyed and millions of trees burned for no reason. Doesn't make sense to me. I know the "Greenies" don't want any logging done, but under proper management, I think it's a better way to do things.

 

so this is where Volkswagen got the idea for the "Thing".

 

All the nutrients from the burned trees end up back in the ground and after some evolution some trees' seeds get dispersed during fires where the sprout on the nurtured ground where they have no problem regrowing

Nature is much better at managing nature than humans will ever be

When you log it you take away the nutrients that it took to grow that tree away from the ground it was grown on

 

I have the same problem derailing from projects. Can’t ever get shot done cause something cool pops up. Straight up deleted my craigslist app.

 

I won't argue that fact, I just think it's insane that millions of acres of trees get burned up every year, instead of allowing a thinning of the forests, it's a waste of natural resources. Yes I've seen the after effects of fires 10 to 15 years down the road. Nature always comes back. I was at Yellowstone in the early 80's before the big fire out there. I'd be curious too see what it looks like now. I'm sure in some places you wouldn't even know there had been a fire.

 

Most of this wouldn't be happening if we had just let small fires be small fires, but our insistence for decades is finally catching up to us. There's other factors, but I believe that's the largest contributing factor.

 

If logging were cutting every 3rd tree that would be great but you end up with clearcut sections of forest with no way to regrow, just unstable dirt that would take effort very few are willing to put to make it the way it was

 

I wish everyone would do like the paper companies do. They replant after they clear cut. Yes I realize most of it is just "Yellow Pine" for harvesting later for Paper products, and that Oak Trees and other hardwoods take "Centuries" to mature. but I still think that planting seedlings in burned off areas would go a long way to getting things back to normal. I've always been amazed at how fast things grow back after a fire. It just pisses me off the Millions of acres that are affected each year.

 

My grandpa owned a few acres in Bandera TX a few years ago we went out there to hunt, it was on fire at some point as there was plenty of charcoal throught the property but looking at the land nature came back just fine from it

When i hear of forest fires i dont see a waste or anything, its just nature doing its thing, granted it wasnt started by some shit head camper that didnt put out their fire

 

Yeah not sure how it's a waste, it goes back to growing the forests.
