I put a Vermont Castings insert into a fireplace at my house in MA. Ran a stainless liner up the chimney at the same time. Pretty painless and was enough to heat a 1400sqft house perfectly.

The answer when I was a kid was either to keep working at it with wedges or wait until the wood freezes and split it then. I would be tempted to buy a cord of seasoned split wood and wait until the green shit freezes. Of course, with RI's weather you may not have enough cold days to do it.

What does a splitter rental cost for a few days? That may be cost effective as heck.

So, I know I need new wipers for the winter. The cheap ones I bought in the spring were streaky to start with, they were probably 3 yrs old hence cheap.
The new ones I found on Amazon were reasonably priced and had good reviews.
Has anyone heard of MOTIUM wipers?
I haven't but the ad was good and the price was right.
I've always known that your can have the dirtiest truck but if your driving and have a clean windshield that is all you see.

sweet deal. That was the plan was to pop it in the fireplace and run the chimney up through the chimney. I don’t have a normal fireplace configuration though so “inserts” would be iffy for me. Mine is in the corner of the room and square, not kicked at 45 like most in corners. And I’m not about to rebuild that just for this.

probably a hundred bucks or so. I don’t really have much though, if I left it even into next year between what I already have stacked from last year and this year I could make it through a month or two if I set up that wood stove. At least that maybe three, and there’s always free stuff popping up on Facebook and Craigslist.

my bone headed thought of the day was figuring out a good way to get it into my crawl space, heat that and let the heat rise through the whole house. o_O but the only current access is outside bulkhead. So no matter what this is a bit of a project. Hoping to find a small wood stove on Facebook, put it in my fireplace as is, run a chimney and just heat like that. Preferably glass door, for the ambiance of it all. But, who knows. I’ll probably leave it this year and just chuck it in the open fireplace and burn it. We have 1200 sq ft, forced hot water off natural gas. Other than solar or geo therm, it’s pretty much the cheapest home heating there is.

Never heard of them. I buy them through Rock Auto when they go on sale. When they go on sale, you can pick up Bosch or RainX for 3 or 4 bucks a piece plus a few bucks for shipping.

every time I order something there I get like 10 oil filters (now with the Tacoma I have the same filter as my wife’s Camry!! Pain in the ass but hey, same part!!) cabin air and engine air filters. Just stock up on things. Might as well you’re already paying for shipping anyway.

oh for sure. This isn’t primary heat source, right now. If I got a stove it would be probably a split between that and my FHW system. I have about 1/8 maybe a bit more than that of cord wood that was delivered, right now I’m at about 1 maybe 1 1/4 cord all told, having the Tacoma I’ll just collect stuff from storms, free on Craigslist, etc. a chainsaw would help. Maybe next year for that too :D

don’t want to spend too much on things if there’s a more than 0 percent chance we’re moving to Texas in a few years. Chainsaw fine, but I’m not moving a wood stove...to Texas. So the financial payoff needs to be like 3 years. So that’s kind of hard to make happen in my head at least.

Texas does see occasional cool(and sometimes cold) weather. If you don't need it, you can probably sell it to some meth head or trade it for their sister.

Yeah, I find that's the problem they're 3 or 3 bucks but also 3 to 4 years old. I've had luck with Rainx a couple of times thou.

+1 on the Rainx. That's what I usually go with

there’s enough cold in Texas even in Austin where we want to move, for me to move a (medium, average joe) chainsaw. There isn’t enough cold for me to move a wood stove vs pitch it here and buy another down there. The lost money would be worth it those bitches are heavy. I’d probably pay more in gas to move it than a new stove down there anyway.

    Fuuuuuuck

I remember getting a call to help my night manager doing carpet cleaning after finishing up my usual building. I figured he runs the machine and I just walk 10 feet behind him keeping the hoses taken up, easy.

What he didn't tell me was the floor drain in an office had erupted. Did I mention this was a just built-out space with all new carpet..and a doctor's office, to boot?

That's like what I was working with before we got satelitte. The satelite is better when working, but it doesn't always work. Either way, I feel for you and hopefully you get some rural internet relief like we are soon. We are days away from Fibre being turned on and I'm so excited.

I had icons on my f150, I LOVED how they rode. Then I needed to service them and they refused to sell me, my dealer or a local shop the rebuild kit. Then when I ordered through their suppliers they sent me the WRONG KIT 3 TIMES.

FUCK ICON, I wouldn't put them on my enemies truck.

I had Rancho 9000's on the last 2 F-250's and really liked them, especially for the price point. This one is heavier over the front end and rides pretty well even with the crappy Motorcraft shocks. When they wear out, I'd like to go with Fox replacements. They make a set that's more stock-replacement and not too 'spensive. Hopefully, I can just continue to run the stockers for another year or 2 before they start to wear out. But yeah, Icons won't make it on my truck. That said, I did like their multi-leaf progressive AAL on my Tacoma, that thing was pretty awesome!

    Morning you guyz

    Fantastic, congrats on 13!

I won't even post my speed test results, you guys might never talk to me. I get faster service at home than the military uses.

Thank god we saved the seals!! Apparently the biologists can't count the herd that is located in Truro anymore, it's over 12,000 and growing fast, which means there aren't enough sharks to eat them now but there probably will be soon.

They'll also start getting sick. Distemper, other pathogens due to their over population. That's going to result in MORE save the seals.

I saw probably two dozen seals swimming about 20 feet off shore in Chatham last September. Doesn't really bother me though, beaches we go to are on the bayside and there are hardly ever seals/sharks in that area.
