I saw that running4tacos is developing little bumper pieces that fit between a steel bumper and the headlights.

Has anyone found a source for this part still attached to the full bumper cover at a good price? Getting that in black and cutting off the chunks you need while keeping your stock parts whole would be sweet

Interesting, depends on cost, fit, and quality. With no desire to cut a factory painted bumper, I looked at buying the OEM part unpainted to cut up, it was roughly $250.

Got a link to more details?

Not to knock the product, but one of the color matched was listed at $225.

Rock Auto has a knockoff full cover for $85 (disregarding shipping which is crazy).

You could damn near buy the knockoff covers in bulk, chop them and sell them, for cheaper than this finished product.

You could, but at the end of the day you are getting a knockoff cover, hand hacked and not really finished(painted) on the edges. It works and some customers are totally fine with it.
These bumper caps are custom molded with a perfectly straight cut line, no guessing. Molding a part this big is costly and that has to be factored into the retail price. People will pay that for the “plug and play” aspect while doing a bumper install, others just don’t want to modify a part that can’t be returned back to stock. Either way, it’s a niche product that I think will help bumper sales for people on the fence about having to cut/hack their stock one.

Disclaimer: I designed and am manufacturing them for R4T

But this cover is a knock off part as well. Seems to me that with a simple jig that you could have reworked a color matched product and still come out cheaper than reinventing the wheel. Just sayin....

Yeah a jig would work too. But if you pencil it out, $85 for a full Reproduction bumper(plus shipping) which is going to be at least $50 due to its size. You are in it 135, then paint. Again, you can do a DIY rattle can but a body shop would at least be $50-75 to spray+clear them. Not to mention your time to do all this. Not trying to sell anything..Just putting it in perspective stuff adds up even when you try to do it on the cheap. You could also resell your uncut OEM bumper for a few hundred $$ so in the end it would prob be a wash.

The shipping quote the Rockauto site gave me was $153. R&L truck freight was the only option. That makes a $85 bumper cover $238 to my door.

They have to be making a little bit on shipping. That’s crazy. Well I guess $225 for finished/painted isn’t far off then...:notsure:

I guess this is cool but at least for my bumper there was some more cutting and drilling than just the plastic bumper anyway.

They haven't sold out, they haven't been in-stock yet. Haha I've been waiting for them to drop because I've got a C4Fab Hybrid on the way and this just solves a lot of headache of potentially making some pretty bad cuts, and misshapen gaps between the bumper and plastic cover.

    @PCTaco and @Sungod
It's not going to be worth it for everyone, but for me, $225 for a finished and paint matched product is worth every penny. It would probably cost me $100+ just to get anything paint matched. Also, what's your time worth?

I just cut my original because there's no such thing as going back to stock for me. My girlfriend's truck on the other hand, we'll see.

At $100 I'd probably go for this. Doing something that I enjoy doing doesn't really work into the whole "what's your time worth" thing though.

Thought same thing, my victory strike bumper being made now---- I probably will keep it forever and my kids will drive it in 10 years.

Another thing worth mentioning.. even if you cut it there will still be a depression where the OEM fog light pocket was. You can see it above ^. Not a big deal but IMO it takes away from the body lines. This is one thing I wanted to change for the replacement cap

I'd pay over 200 no problem.
I just paid 130 for black plastic.

I'll probably rattle can them with gray to match the MGM or go steel it like the bumper.

There is certainly an aspect of convenience, it's worth something over the time and effort to DIY cut. Not to mention tiny mistakes ever annoying a perfectionist.
Appearance is personal preference, this addresses the rough edges, fog notch, and rubber molding disliked by some.
Some find value in preserving factory parts. Meso apparently did the design and will do the manufacturing so quality is going to be good.

So yeah, seems like market for this. I would be in for around $225 to $250. I'd spend that or near so in buying a raw part, my time, and paint.
