It's called loss of confidence in the currency. Same reason food is up 10-20% the last month or so. imho.

You could but then you’d just be paying crazy high prices for the 4runner too. Prices on a new 4runner have jumped about $4k in the past 2 months.

I was thinking that too, you get an inflated price for your trade but also pay an inflated price on a new one. Better off waiting till supplies catch up with the demand.

Same thing here in Eastern WA./ID. Panhandle.
Was looking for a used Taco (Like one that had been turned in on a 3 year lease) ...
It didn't take long to realize... I can buy brand-new for the same price as 3 year-old used.
So, I bought new. Only downside was I had to order one and wait 3 months to get it.

This is so true. I got a job offer in March just as it became clear COVID was going to become a big deal. We sold our house for a lot more than we were expecting but we didn't want to buy during the beginning of a global pandemic so we're just renting a little house and sitting on all the proceeds from our house. I'm really curious to see if housing prices will level off or keep climbing.

They will keep climbing for the foreseeable future. We have no inventory and cheap money. Those two things will keep driving prices higher. If interest rates go up substantially, which I don't expect, that would have a downward affect on prices.

Sit back and enjoy the ride....It will fall apart soon enough. Just make sure you're ready when it does. I'm old I know!

Just sold our house in LA for $500k more than we bought it 5 years ago!! And they paid cash!! WTF?! There’s a lot of rich people out there that you would never know by looking at them. We’re moving to Colorado in 40 acres for way less than we paid in CA. It’s all relative when you’re selling/buying.

    None yet, here to learn
I noticed this too. I have 14 months left on my 2018 TRD OR lease. I have option to buy it now for $28k. Looks like I could turn around and sell it for $38k. Flip that into the same lease at ~$300/mo on a 2020 and the profit basically makes my car payments for the duration of the lease. But it just seems too good to be true - why the hell is anyone paying $38k for a 2018 with 20k miles on it when you can get a brand new one for the same price? Makes no sense.

Been that way for years. When I bought my 19 a year and a half ago, they had a 2017 on the lot for 3k more than the brand new one I bought. And mine was loaded to the max with every option you could get and the 17 was a TRD sport. Makes zero sense. Even the salesman can’t explain it other than they hold there value.
Now though it’s getting even dumber. 2018 TRD sport for sale in this area for 50k. Just amazes me.

I thought the same thing, but I sold my 2019 to Carvana and the person showed up with another Tacoma on their truck bed. She told me she has picked up at least 20 in the past month. They are buying them like crazy. They bought mine for more then I paid fully out the door.
