I don't get message notifications from non friends either. I think I turned it off after I had an old co-worker spew some psychoness at me of how I rejected him like 15 years ago and he had apparently been holding a grudge.

Yeop. Although the weirdest thing happened last week. Got a FB friend request from some girl. She immediately messages me and we start talking. After a few days of talking she asks if texting would be better (iffy since my cell reception at mi casa is poor) but I say sure. She asks "is this your number still"? Umm....what? yes it was indeed. She texts me and a name pops up with the message, so I had her in my contacts already. Now it's a game of guess who and twenty questions where only one person knows they're playing.
