    I am getting out of the military soon and want to look into getting information on how to become a carreer employee of the US Postal Service. If any memebers are currently employed or retired any information would help. Thanks

    they may have to lay off! there are talks to change service to just weekdays. no more deliveries on sat. this will create a surplus, and they will layoff the extras.

    As long as you're not looking at it as 'lifetime' then why not try. Declining mail volumes are going to be a continued problem, but retirements and other changes may ease that.

    Probably still better job security than private sector, although you may give up pay for the security. Might as well try it, if you're interested....

    Federal retirement, decent money, dont deploy and some stablity for the family. Thinking about staying in now and goin recruter. Thanks for all the posts.

    Wet Okole camo seat covers. 3 JL 8w1's in custom ported box. pioneer 4200 dvd head unit and jl 500/1 to drive the subs.
    Been with them as a rural letter carrier for 16 years now. You will get 5 or 10 points added on to your final test score as military background. Depending on what you want to do, I would take the mega exam which covers a variety of jobs with usps and list 3 biggest towns in your area to insure possibly getting a position that is available. Any other questions just hit me up.

    I'm active Air Force and always thought about working for the USPS after I got out. Turns out the USAF actually has a "postal" career field so I volunteered for it and now I'm in England working at the base post office. Something to consider if your branch allows it and want to try it out.
