Adding gasket around bottom of shell- solo?

I've purchased a cap seal (linked below) and need to apply that as whatever sad excuse for a gasket was on there is essentially useless now. Any tips on how to manage this solo with no way to lift the shell off really? I'm thinking take the clamps off & lift the shell just enough to put 2x4's down between the shell and bed sides to raise it a bit. That doesn't gain me all that much working space, but I can't get the shell off and upside down for the proper wipe down with alcohol wipes and application. Welcome any ideas or experience from those who've wrestled with similar problems.

Ive had toppers on my trucks since 1980. Many were used and needed a little work. When it came to gasket install I would slap together a couple long legged sawhorses, drag the horses into the bed, lift one end of topper by bending over and lifting topper resting on my back, then standing saw horse up under toppers each end. worked many times.

The turtle method

 

It wasn't pretty, but that's what I figured out when looking at it this afternoon. Glad I'm not the only one to awkwardly turtle around with a shell on my back. Thanks for the confirmation.


Hopefully there's enough gasket on there to prevent the corners from leaking.. not sure if more is better, but at least I can't see daylight through the corners anymore.
