Getting deer out just got easier. Guy came in the store last week and I ask him if he knew anybody that had a 4wd four wheeler for sale, he said I do.

He brought it to the house Saturday evening, it needs a little work but runs and drives. I made him an offer, he said I can’t take that with the new tires. I said new tires? He said yeah I’m picking them up Tuesday.

We agreed on a price and he showed up with new tires yesterday. It doesn’t need tires :D

Sometimes you got to test fit with cardboard first.

My coworker who runs the lathe does about 10 of these every couple of months. He has to replace the center bushing. He was pressing one out and it exploded.

Punky boo’s gear redo from Friday held up for two laps around the yard. We were both disappointed.

$29.99 later got a complete brand new gear box from across the big pond.

I called upon the free help this time.

The generic 'she' that everybody is always talking about. Her. That woman.
The one you look at when she's walking away but then she turns around and catches you, gives you one of these looks  and walks out of your life forever.

Damn, knew I should have copyrighted it! Think of all of the royalties I could have collected.
Anyways, I just wanted to say hi and that this thread seems really fun, I remember when I stumbled upon it and thought how cool some of the little projects that @six5creed and the rest of you were sharing.
I’m an actual CAD designer (with a computer, not cardboard) at a small sheet metal shop. (25 employees) where I’ve worked for 15 years.
I work on stuff for the marine industry, emergency vehicles, municipalities maintenance and service vehicle equipment, and a bunch of other odds and ends. I stay out of the shop, but am always working on something in my home shop.
I’ll try to pop in and post up something every now and then when I’m working on something cool.
Last big accomplishment was rebuilding these railings for my camper out of aluminum box tube and having them powder coated to match the fresh cedar deck.
Added a screenshot of the actual CAD file I made up for this project.

Thanks for sharing what you do, please do share some of your projects. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would enjoy seeing them.

Thanks for planting the poll idea seed too!

I’ll certainly drop some of my projects in here, the ones that I’m not under a non disclosure contract, that is!

Your powdercoated deck rails, is that a special paint to resist UV?

My buddy who owns the powdercoat place across from my work, we trade out most of my painting, I do odds and ends for him welding, removing broken bolts, work on his chainsaw and weedeater, etc.

He’s painted several pieces of farm equipment for me and he always ask “is it going to be sitting outside?”

What he’s done still looks good and it’s several years old.

Yes sir! I specifically took it to one of our coasters who does the bulk of our marine related work, they perform a 7 step wash/etch process that is salt rated.
I couldn’t be too picky on the color, but this one ended up being great because it is not glossy at all and matched the original wood feel. It’s actually bronze with a slight metallic flake in it.

I over engineered the crap out of the steps to be able to split fold at the back. This allows them to fit onto the front tongue.
Next I need to find time to get back on this project and finish the front rack for all of this to fit into!
