I just went from stock 245/75/16 tires to 265/70/17 tires. Do you think I need to regear my 4cyl?

You only need to regear if you don’t like how sluggish it’s become.

Roughly how much does it cost to regear? I don’t mind it, I feel like it’s not a big jump is it?

Got the tires on! Clearanced everything I could and CMC. Need to get the snorkel on asap! This coming weekend will be a real test to see if I did good or not.
4.88s, 5spd, and 35s should not be a problem to daily or wheel.

I did the exact same swap when I first got my Taco over a year ago (3/19). In my experience, the difference is barely noticeable. According to my door plate, the truck is geared with 3.73s, (it's a 5spd). There is no way in hell I'd even consider re-gearing using it as a DD, occasional off-roader. Just not worth the trouble & $$$, unless you're going 'big tire', different story then. In this case, oh hell no. JMO, YMMV, Void where prohibited and all the sh..:D

the p265/70/17 that's the stock size for the Sport model? I see a lot of those Sport 17" takeoffs for sale I always wonder what the impact would be on a 4 banger auto that's p245/75/16 factory tires

I've no experience with the a/t, but reading previous posts seem to suggest they're (4cyle-auto's) equipped with 4.10s. I'd think that would be a plus, adding a little more grunt on the bottom end. My wheel/tire set-up were new 4runner take-offs with Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts. Being highway tires (less resistance) may slightly lend to the negligible difference to the 245/75/16 AT3 Coopers on the original steelies. 1st gear is fairly steep on the 5spds, so that helps too. :notsure:

Not that these are considered 'big' tires looking @ 245/65/17s for my 2.7L I should get approx 3' in height from the stock 215s.
Also debating 235/75/15s but think the 245s will give me more height (w/out having to add a lift kit).
What do you all think about the 245s? Are there any mods to consider if I add these to the stock / base model 4cyl?
    TIA
