Anyone jump into the Aliexpress X79 Matx motherboards? I have a Xeon 2689 sitting in my CPU stash and just ordered a X79m-CR5. For $65 shipped, was willing to try it.

I want to play with it in Linux, Plex and or H**kintosh.

 

I didn't know they could do that.

 

The more you know. I mean, I sure as shit wasn't gonna return it.

I checked them out for fun right before Ryzen really made them irrelevant.

Lots of reviews out there. They can be good but remember they're pretty much all harvested server board components on a new PCB. You're mileage may literally vary.

 

What GPU? What game and load? Is the latest driver installed?

 

ASRock phantom 5700xt 8g , Apex, 1440 running around 95fps, most settings in mid to low

Gonna go out on a limb and say doing anything with rainmeter to the desktop is pretty yuppie?

 

I used to use rainmeter. All about aesthetic.
Nowadays I just keep my desktop empty with a few rotating wallpapers and Fliqlo as the screensaver (when the screen burn in pattern decides to stay turned off.)

 

I don't really have much to compare it to, but so far I'm happy with what I got, for what I paid, out of this monitor.

 

Get a cheap secondary monitor. One of the best things you can add to a setup.

 

This might be a silly question. Do curved monitors have similar radius through out the industry?

 

Ya I thought curved wasn't the best. My old Asus has seen better days and kind of want to buy a new one. But I want to buy a med keyboard too -_-
