No after-market devices I know of that indicate gear. ScanGauge indicates fuel cutoff by displaying 9999 mpg.

First winter with the Tacoma? Sounds pretty normal for cold, looks like you're sitting around -20 to -25C right now. Using synthetic oil in the diffs and transfer case will help a little bit, as 75W90 non-synthetic won't really pour at those temps. Synthetic engine oil will help on a cold engine too. Also, tires stiffen up increasing rolling resistance, even though the pressure is the same. Wheel bearing grease is very stiff at those temps. It all adds up to increased drag, which you are noticing.

You must have the VSC option then... as that was optional from 05-08 and necessary for DAC.

Surprisingly it was the cold. 6th winter with the Tacoma but never noticed it this much before. Running synthetic in everything but tranny i think. I have original fluid in tranny. It warmed up to 0 the other day and truck was bavk to normal. Temps hovering around -20 for a week brought on all the symptoms.

I have the same engine drag when I take my foot off the throttle. Putting it in neutral resolves the drag issue. Changed automatic transmission fluid, still the same issue. I disconnected the battery for 10 min to reset the computer. That seems to resolve the drag issue for a few days until the computer relearns. Throttle position sensor? 2008 4cyl automatic.
