So what got decontented for '21?

The '20s lost the driver side cubby and that awesome GoPro mount that everyone uses.

The '19s lost the drivers side bed storage box.

These look decent! Looking forward to maybe being able to pick these up, along with the blacked out off road rims.

Interested in these lightweight sliders. Aluminum I assume and won’t take crazy abuse but good enough for my use.

I've been in the toyota plant in northern Alabama where they make some of our engines and they are putting a lot more cash into it to expand. It is definitely heavily regulated and I'm not sure but I really don't see that changing whether it be in this country or not. It is to bad that USA workers won't get the jobs though (for production)

    Exactly.

It’s amazing to me the way some jump to the conclusion that making Tacomas in Mexico is about the“quality” of the vehicle.

It really comes down to quality of life for the US citizens that lost out on those jobs.

    Taxpayers.

    People raising families.

People contributing to their local economies.

People who for whatever reason desire a good paying job and choose not to pursue white collar employment.

    People like me.

It would have been better if Toyota built a new factory in the US instead of in Mexico, for those reasons imo.

Agreed 100%! Our old Hyundai was designed in CA, and built in Alabama - that's a lot of US jobs right there. k (for Toyota) it's about the bottom line. If you look at production costs it's waaaay cheaper to import parts and pay labor costs to countries outside the U.S. Even after they pay higher tariffs to import a finished product to us, the costs savings in production makes up for it. It's kinda crazy how global production works - on the surface it makes no sense whatsoever. Sorry for going off-topic, but

Look at this. Lime juice we buy in Miami is made from Limes in Peru, sent to Switzerland for bottling, then imported to the United States. DUDE! This stuff travels across the Atlantic twice before getting here. But, for some reason, it works out better for the company than growing limes and bottling them in the U.S. - even with the amount of citrus grown in Florida and California. Crazy stuff.

Where do the different plants source their energy? That will be the next deciding/debating factor for the customer.

My 20 OR with build date of June 2020 was built in Baja. No es problema para mí.

For those that think manufacturing facilities differ, should probably study up on sig sigma type quality improvement processes that are prevalent in most if not all auto-manufacturing plants. It's quite fascinating if you're into that stuff. And Japan has mastered these concepts.

I think if the production is moved to Mexico just means the Texas plant is producing another vehicle. The assembly line doesn’t get shut down so no Americans lost their jobs. It’s not uncommon for manufacturers to shift production around when needed. And it could be various reason why it happens. With that said I’ll drive a Mexico made Tacoma before a USA made RAV4. Truck gang for life!

Oh ya. I honestly don't care, I doubt there's much if any difference between trucks from Baja or Texas in terms of quality. Also I'm Canadian so I don't have any skin in the game when it comes to who's employed by whom and where.
