Got the accessorides installed. This might also apply to the 12volt system as well. Here is what I found out

    - install look less than an hour. Could have been quicker if I wasn't chilling after every connection
-Light don't flash when u leave them on for locking, unlocking, and remote start. So make sure u turn them off.
-If lights are left on when leaving truck. Then later u decide to remote start. When truck shuts off it leaves ur lights on indefinitely and will kill ur battery
-tapped into horn wire and horn has never ever once honked on anything. Arm disarm and remote start
-i ordered the 3 button 2 way remote system and received the 1 button remotes
-printed instructions is missing images of the door lock harness
-and last but not least. There are no instructions saying anything about pitstop mode. Which I tried it on my own with knowledge of previous alarm installs. And also nothing said about the what the button does on the antenna.

So now I'm thinking that the unit was never programmed to honk the horn. At the same time the unit was not designed to use the factory beep sound when unlock and lock with factory remote.

So project "horn" will commence. First I need to get my voltage meter and determine if the horn wire coming from the RS unit is a 12v or a ground when arm or disarmed. Then order I piezo beeping siren thingy from Amazon. Then wire it to make a little acknowledgement sound when locking and unlocking from accessorides system

@DJSpeed - thanks for your purchase and feedback! Once you get the 4-button remotes the horn will honk when you press lock twice, or pushing and holding the lock button will initiate the panic function similar to the red button on the OEM remote. And correct the factory beep will not sound with our kit or any other kit out there on this generation of trucks. Pitstop or quickstop will work as well. With your foot off the brake and the vehicle running, just initiate a remote start and then the parking lights will turn on and you can turn your key off and remove it. It's a fairly common feature among remote starts but it was a big source of confusion among customers so we didn't add anything into the guides for it. I will have the guys look over the guide and add some more pictures as well. Thanks again!

So I had debated between the 12Volt and the @Accessorides systems... I chose the Accessorides system, mainly because of the 4 button FOB that is provided (instead of the one button, 12 Volt). Anyways, it took about an hour, wasn't too hard but I have a few thoughts and feedback for others looking to do this...
    • Price is good, it was $282 shipped after using the discount code "STIMUL8". shipped quickly and good communications
    • Instructions are lacking a little , especially photos, but the competitors install video actually shows really well where all the harnesses are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nahsbn3thxQ
    • Also I wish the instructions were more clear about "optional" items... The hood latch button thing is totally optional and not needed, just put the warning sticker under the hood. But they could have made that more clear. Horn wire is also optional
    • Make sure you are carful with where you run all the wires, I was able to get the whole dash back in OK, but it was a little tight behind the left side (in front of fuse panel, below the little ledge where the box sits), Make sure you are careful to leave enough room and clearances for everything.
    • The harness for the door lock is the hardest to reach. It's almost halfway into the door jam, you've got to reach for it, photo with arrow showing it below.
    • On the programming instructions for step 2 it says to "Cycle the ignition on/off" 5 times. TO me that would mean starting the truck and then turning it off... Well after trying that and it not working I realized they meant to say to cycle it from off position to the ACC position back and forth... Instructions could have been more clear on this. Besides that the remote and device programming was straight forward.
    • I hid the antenna up behind the A-Pillar. Seems to work well, out of sight and works from very far away.
    • Overall I am very happy with the FOB and show some size comparison photos below. It's high quality. One thing I would like to know is how to program the accessory button (the trunk popping button on the remote) I would like for this to send a 12 volt signal to my Pop & Lock on my Snug-top to unlock the glass door separately from the truck. But when looking at the box all the plugs look proprietary and have 3-4 pins... Not sure how to make it work. @Accessorides any input on how to wire and program this to send a signal to topper for unlocking a latch?
    • I will start by saying that I hate beeps and noises... On my 2011 DCSB I have removed the seat belt chime plug under seat and I have the key in ignition annoying beep turned off by unplugging the harness (which is actually an issue when setting the bypass on this device, I had to plug that harness back in to get things setup.) So overall I am totally OK with loosing the Piezo beep noise during lock/unlock (as you loose it with this kit), and you will see that with this kit they give you instructions to tap into the horn wire, but that seems dumb to me as I already thought the beep was too loud for my sleeping neighbors, I definitely do not want to be honking my horn when I lock my doors. Anyways, like I said I am ok with not having a beep or horn notification, but if I am 20 feet from my truck and I lock the doors, I would like some kind of notification that the doors have locked, and with this system and no horn hooked up the parking lots DO NOT flash when you click the lock button. This is a little frustrating as it would be good to get some kind of visual feedback from the truck that the doors have locked, and when you use remote start the parking lights come on, so I'm not sure why this couldn't have been programmed to also flash the parking lights when you click Lock. I have learned now after purchasing and reading this forum closer that the "2 way" remote they sell actually provides an auditory beep on the FOB confirming that it has been locked. If the @Accessorides websites had clearly described this I would have bought the 2 way remote instead. And now I am wondering if I could possibly upgrade to the 2 way remote so I could get this functionality, @Accessorides is that doable?
    • Its getting cold here in Vail, CO so it was time for a remote start! Will just need to remember to turn heat up when I park it for the night! Overall very happy with it, now I just need to install some seat heaters :)

Here are some photos of the install, hope this helps!

Depending on your model. If you have daytime running lights switch on your light switch. Turn it off. Cause mines flashes

Great write up @jrlockman I am in the same boat as other trying to decide which model to go with for my 2010. You brought up great points and questions. MY first high school job was at a car stereo shop 20 years ago and parking light flash or a beep was pretty much standard on all alarms even the lower end models that no longer exist. You could easily silence the siren beep or horn but light flash was an easy option. I don’t mind the current beep when locking or unlocking but I agree, adding light flash would be beneficial. Hope to hear some replies from the vendor and I’m sure they should have a option to flash the unit to add this

    thanks

Not sure if I understand, yes I do have DRL, but there is no switch to turn them off. I have tried to lock my doors with the lights in the on position, in the parking light/DRL position, and off. And the lights never seem to flash when I hit Lock.

I would double check to make sure your turn signals and hazards flash. If they do then double check the harness that plugs into the turn signal plugs. Then also make sure the black connector next to the white one is also pushed in good

Interesting, I wonder if that sound is the one on the 2way remote they are referring to or a sound from the actual Tacoma?

@jrlockman - Thanks for your purchase! If you keep your headlight switch in the normal OFF position, you should definitely have light flashes when you press lock and unlock, and they will remain lit during remote start. Have you put your headlight switch to the parking light position and verified all your bulbs are good? Haven't seen any problems with the light flash but if you aren't getting anything feel free to give us a call and we can try to figure out where the issue is. Also you can upgrade to the 2-way system at any time you just have to swap out the antenna and reprogram the new remotes. The 2-way system will provide a beep (from the remote) to confirm the commands and a visual LED on the remote to confirm as well. Whether you got the 1-way or 2-way system if you hook the horn wire up you will get the honk (from the trucks horn) on the 2nd press of lock and the panic when holding lock. Do you have a link to the pop and lock you are using on your Snug Top? Shouldn't be hard to integrate you would most likely need 2 relays though.

Just a quick follow up here.. I had been having some issues with the @Accessorides light flash/indicator working. Their team was very helpful on the phone with troubleshooting the problem and quickly sent out a replacement... I now have the 2-way antenna and remote and I can tell you now that I have used both , I would recommend the 2 way option as its really nice to get the audible confirmation of remote start on the FOB... Overall very happy with their kit and very satisfied with @Accessorides customer support.

Sounds like the Accessoridws is becoming the winner. I wonder how hard it would be to wire up a small alarm style LED to flash in the truck when you like the doors? Would give the appearance of an alarm as well.

if the DRL’s flash with locking and unlocking but you lose the beep sound from the truck, that may not be too bad since you still get a visual confirmation

I’m looking to order one for my 2010 so looks like I need to read more on the ARides version

truck covers usa roll cover, popnlock remote lock, iron cross running boards, p2 trailer Brake, rear view mirror upgrade with auto dim temp and homelink, yakima rack bars , goodyear wranglers, heated side mirrors with directional signal.
I have the 12 volt system,, been installed about 5 months...Had some kinks I had to work threw but over all happy with it, good customer service....For some reason my 15 was not plug and play and I had to tap into some ignition wires to get it to work, with help from 12 volt....Also I learned if you use remote start and had left the lights switch in the on postion or in DRL postion and you let the truck turn off by itself after the 15 min mark or turn it off by your remote ,Your DRL Lights will stay on or lights sill stay on,my battery was going dead and if you don't shut it off manually or open the truck door, the drl/headlights will stay on....There is a sensor that shuts off lights when you open door.......The phone app and remotes work great.......

@Accessorides , is there a fix for the light issue? I’m very interested but know I habitually leave my light switch on or in DRL...I’m sure it WILL bite me eventually if I install this system as is. Thanks.

Did they resolve this for you or what was the fix and what are your thoughts on the system after using it for a few months? I have a 2010 with DOT key and trying to decide on what my options are besides going to bestBuy

12 Volt Solutions has been installed in mine for about two weeks now. Went with them over Accessorides mainly because I got a good price on the 12 Volt kit.

Based on the photos from the above user on this page, install seems pretty identical. It took me about an hour. Hardest part was getting the lower trim panel off the steering column. Total pain.

I didn’t think I’d like the single button fob, but it’s actually grown on me. Easy to use when fishing around in my pocket. Fob doesn’t look bad at all.

I don’t have the concern with lights other users are describing with the Accessorides kit. If I leave my lights off, only the parking lights illuminate when I remote start. If I leave my headlights on, they turn on with remote start. I have the DRL setting on my stem, but never use it so I can’t say about that.

My only dig is my 2-way remote had a dead battery when it got to me. Got a new one. No big deal.

Not here to say go with one brand or the other. I am saying I’ve had a good experience with the 12 Volt kit.

hey. Just randomly logged in and saw you posted yesterday. I spoke with them on phone and they sent another kit. It had same issues. I swapped back and forth with the 2 boxes
and harnesses to make sure it wasn’t an issue there. When I tried to email them back I never got a response. None on calls either. Granted this was right when everything shut down with covid, so I suspect that’s what it was. Long story short, I’m using factory system and have 2 kits sitting on my kitchen counter. I actually just saw them and logged in due it. Maybe @Accessorides can reply back here with advice.
