Have you tried driving it in "manual" mode more often? I find that helpful on hills or when cruise control gets caught in that awkward in-between.

If you're really worried about water in your fuel, just put some fuel stabilizer in when you fill up.

The Manual Tacoma has 4.30 gears and the Auto 3.91 so the higher revs will cost a little MPG.

    Working on it ...
Good point. The rear would play into that for sure.

I'm not understanding how this would matter? The pump tells you how much fuel you put it. Your ODO tells you roughly how many miles you went. If you "squeeze in another gallon," you will capture that amount in your totals and it'll all be worked out when you fill up next time and do the division.

Drive slower, max 65mph and manually shift to 6th gear, return to stock tire size too and you will get much better mpg.

'Ya know, yer right! I never really stopped to think my way through the logic of that old wife's tail. I stand corrected. Thank you.
As far as my "sweet spot" photo goes, regardless of how much fuel I have in the tank, if I keep my RPM's <2000, I can hit 22mpg almost all the time on highway driving. Running I75 in Florida now at 75-85 MPH with RPM's >2000 and my mileage is ~18.5 to 19.5.
Either way, thanks for the correction to my twisted logic.

Yeah it’s the gauge for the 2020! I got the 28 mpg on a very flat road and the speed limit was 55. I also had cruise control on so the gauge was maxed out at the 30 mpg sign. Other that that I’m at about 25 mpg for mixed city and freeway driving. I just drive like a grandma

Made a 125 mile run today. Got up to up to 29.4 mpg according to the dash on a flat freeway leg with light traffic, so not many throttle inputs, at speeds 70-75. The return trip was at night with more traffic plus a side jaunt in suburban medium heavy traffic, so more throttle inputs, at speeds on the same freeway section 65-70. The ending tank mpg was 26.3.

same boat here.... I’ve changed gears looking for 7th gear about 10 times in almost 5k miles... I basically change gears by sound... I know more or less when I am around 2k rpms and I just go to the next gear... it sounds weird going up to high on rpms doing only 70mph... BUT, I still love my manual tranny.

Just filled up today and the tank average display said 22.6 mpg. The math via the receipt said I actually got 21.95 mpg over 370 miles in what I'd call suburban driving (stop and go at neighborhood and school zone speeds, but also stretches of up to 2 miles @ 60 mph) on stock wheels and no mods to the engine/etc. I'm happy.

1,400 miles on my 2020 TRD Sport 4x4. Dividing miles by gallons I recorded 21.4 mpg all city driving.
Then again I live in Michigan, no hills and only 600 ft above sea level.

It just depends on the definition of cold. The dealership (and every tire place) puts mine at 35. I suspect this is either a generic pressure they use, or they're accounting for the fact that it can get colder than whatever temp it currently is, not to mention that you've just driven it.

That being said, I notice the dirt on my tires shows the tire is definitely overinflated at that PSI. But I've seen as high as 38 too, but it was very hot that day. I got 23-24 MPG during that running 70 on the freeway. I believe mine were around 36 or 37 when I got my record of 25.8 MPH in a 31 mile trip. But, I was also running 60 during most of that.

Caveat on this, I discovered that when you're below a quarter tank, the computer is tricked into thinking you have less fuel and so your computer MPGs will drop drastically as will your miles to empty. My last fill-up was with 13 miles to empty and I only put in 18 gallons to full.
