Some crazy perspective:

 

Partly there's not enough fire personnel as before and a lot les private contractors.
Without those resources there was a lot of fires that were left unmanned and no aircraft to respond. This is how the bear fire got so big. There was no threat to a town or city so they had to choose the sheep fire and Claremont fire to fight, leaving the bear fire was the only thing they could do. Well, it really would have been different had there been more manpower, a lot more!
My thought is that people are pussies and are scared and totally lazy anymore. Also like to say that the amount of government timber ground that had timber sales up for bid and then had an injunction filed has risen. People have to know that to prevent fires we need to clean out the fire fuel. "Our" forests must be thinned and salvage logged. There is no other way to prevent things like these large fires unless we do some work. Filing paperwork in a court to prevent logging or biomass projects has now proven to not be safe practice.
Now there are people getting hurt or killed by fire that could have been stopped had someone been alowed to clean the forest. Reduce the fuel you then reduce the risk. Its not "ROCKET SURGERY" it is just reality and common sense.

 

It becomes obvious when you look at a stand of timber and see half of it dying. Whether it’s diseased or just too tightly packed, it’s becoming fuel just begging to be burned.

I just hope the lesson is learned and we can see the forest for the trees again. Soon.

Very interesting theory. Makes sense. Most of it anyway. Lightening was never mentioned in the lecture, and I feel that was a huge reason forests were thinned, as well, before we started putting them all out.
