I don't normally like Speedway Blue Tacomas, but yours is pretty sweet.

lol thanks. I bought it 16 years ago when I was in college. Being older now and still having the truck, I wish it was more of a neutral color

The first time I went to buy a Tacoma, I really wanted the midnight blue (or whatever they call it). The salesman told me that it was the speedway blue and was ready to take my money and order me a Speedway Blue....I'm glad I double checked.

Bopping around Nevada back in July.

What's the best way to drive on loose, very dry sand? Was in 4Lo going 15-25mph aired down to 10-12psi. Would 4hi work alright too? Really wasn't looking to bury the truck in 105º heat so didn't want to experiment too much because it was super soft.

Very cool pics. What's that in the background of the sand dune shot?

For deep sand I would do what your doing, it's working. But you might want to look into an earth anchor recovery system. You will need a winch with that though, so I would look into a hidden hitch for the front and winch that you can moved to the back too if needed. A lot of times it's easier to go back the way you came. Definitely a shovel, and some traction boards. Oh, some sort of communication device and tell someone you are going and where you will be, and when you intend to be back. It looks like you're all alone out there. That's probably the most dangerous thing of all. Oh, extra extra extra water.

I think that's the Ivanpah solar energy farm. You can see it when you're driving to vegas.

Thanks! Appreciate the thorough response. An earth anchor and winch are definitely on the list. I'm out alone more than I'd like/know is smart so hope to pull the trigger on that early next year. Also got a fun Covid furlough and pay cut so that's a bit of a bummer... Have the shovel, traction boards, inReach, 10 gallons of water and a plan left with some friends so I'm always mitigating the risk as much as I can for solo trips. It can be downright disorienting when all you can see is sand and sky so bogged down on a few dunes that were steeper than expected and had to back off them. That's definitely on the list of places to return to with some more rigs and cooler weather. Be fun after some rain or snow to firm up the sand too.

Crescent Dunes Solar actually, but same style as Ivanpah only way more bankrupt and idle now.
