“Nobody makes me bleed my own blood” would have been an epic line to drop OP

Pro tip #2: Don't hold the firewood you're attempting to chop. Managed this one over the weekend.

My dog likes to run up to the fence and huff at other dogs when they walk by.

So as I took Draco for his walk this morning, I noticed a fence board had come loose because of a root growing under it. File that in the "things to do after work" file.

So we get back from the walk, I get my breakfast and go sit on the back patio and let the dog run around. Owner and her big alpine Shepard thing go walking past, and guess which board Draco hits? Board comes clean off and now has a gap big enough for him to get through. So after I sprint across the yard and hop the fence, I grab my dog and pull him off this beast of a dog. Well at some point in doing that, the other dog reached back and I took one of his canines to the wrist. Wasn't really a bite bite, just sort of incidental contact bite. Of course I watched it happen, but didn't notice any damage/wounds till I got back inside. I did ask if it had all its shots though.

Of course, as I was going to IMC. I realized that since it was someone else's dog, that of a stranger, and no contact info because it was just a "You Good, dogs good?, I'm good" resolution its gonna be trouble. Sure enough, now there's this 3rd party liability thing that has to get worked through before it goes to my insurance. I'm sure it'll be fun. Desk clerk who deals with it semi-common says since it was incidental and no info is available it should be easy, but I'm never that lucky.

They check people’s passes as they enter the park as well as coolers for alcohol. I pulled up and showed the wrist band and he just waved me through. I felt so cool.

lemme rephrase. We were all good. I get in the house, and realize I have a bite wound. Shit happens, I'm still good. Had it not been for the need for an antibiotics dose, I would've just patched myself up with my big trauma bag's worth of irrigation stuff and gone to work. End of story.

But since I told the doc it was a dog bite to make sure it got treated right and get my augmentin script, that's when "healthcare policy" stepped in. Insurance won't just accept my $100 copay if insurance can find someone else at fault to pay the whole thing first!

Since we just went our separate ways, UHC isnt gonna get anywhere on the third party liability thing, and then they will cover it.

UHC sucks to begin with. I can see the bureaucratic bs you would need to go through them.

On another note, did you fix the damn loose board already?

Yeah, I fixed that while still leaking. Now I'm gonna go check all the other boards when I get home too. I'm discovering that the fence in my backyard is in name only. They assembled one side with pallet staples. My side neighbor and I just fix them as they pop loose. The street side is actually built decent, but clearly 30 years old.

Never had a true problem with UHC before, but they do have some quirky policies. I guess we'll see how this one goes.

Nah. Prob could have fit one, but its small and allows drainage when kept open. It didn't need one. It barely bled at all, just kinda got under the skin.

Are you going to have to get rabies shots since you don’t know the status? I’ve heard rabies shots are a bitch.
