@mcintoshman , what color wires does this connector have? It seems to be IR1, which goes to the Tow/Turn/Hazard relay you don't have ..yet.

    upload_2020-8-31_19-45-28.jpg
Edit: in the OP's pics, that circled connector is held in place by a plastic pin to the fuse box, so it is connector IR1.
Now to find the other 4 pin to the bumper harness...

Blue, Red, Black, and Gray. I was inclined to believe this was the connector for the tailgate backup camera (a project for a future date). Maybe I'm wrong? But you're right, there should be two 4 pin connectors, one for the hitch and one for the cam. The hitch one still evades me, but I haven't given up. And I have seen it before, and connected it (with success) on my old 2006. If it is there, it is well hidden. Thanks again for all the info. Where do you get you're electrical diagrams from? Your arsenal is deep...

The harness ends at the bumper, you might just be missing the harness inside the tailgate.

@mcintoshman , according to the instructions to install the PT725-35120 (kinda late), it shows the 4 pin in same location of prior years...

Been gone for a few days, but I'm now back on this project. I have looked in every nook, cranny, and crevice; if that 4 pine harness connector is there, I sure can't find it. I'm inclined to think Toyota didn't put this on the '12 base model, but it sure doesn't make any sense. I looked under the vehicle too for the harness routing cab to back, definitely not there. Much as I'd like the factory hitch harness, I'm about to concede. But I do want the DRL. Earlier in this thread, I was advised to get the relay and flasher for the '05-'11 models, is that still correct? Thanks to all for your input.

It's there. It is the same as the one that was right in front taped to the harness. Have you tried following the harness from that connector?

If only someone that has the 4 pin harness installed in their '12 base would look and assist...

Thanks again for the persistence. And echo the message on anyone else who may have done the hitch harness in their '12's (probably the same on 13, 14, and 15's). Included are the pictures of the driver's side kick panel, best shots I could with limited space. Thanks for all, and to all for your assistance.20200910_121652.jpg IMG_0406.jpg IMG_0407.jpg IMG_0408.jpg

Thank you! I am really embarrassed, please don't think me unworthy. As soon as I saw these pictures on the computer, I caught in the picture what I didn't with my eyes. Soooo, to summarize, I need the PT725-35120 wire harness, and the 82241-04030 relay with 81980-35020 jumper. As in the parts used for the '05-'11. And the PT725-35120 kit states "Vehicles with DRL". I want to be sure I order correctly as I don't think dealers allow returns on special order electrical parts. And it seems to me you had a referral for best price on parts? My next project, backup camera. The wire from the cab to the tailgate is there, and I already have the correct (uninstalled) rear view mirror. I'll put it on another post. Thanks again for the help, and I hope maybe some others will find the posting useful.

Since you found that the harness is there, then use the '12 relay and relay jumper. Not the one for prior years.
Wire, Relay 82241-04060 (it has 4 connectors not 3)
One connector goes to the relay (20 pin T-200; 2 go where you'll remove the Flasher and the junction block One ( 8 pin Gray 1L and 12 pin White 1M) and the remaining one to the connector in front of the BECU (4 pin, White IR1)
Turn Signal Flasher 81980-04050 goes to T20.
The hidden 4 pin connects the harness to the rear bumper.
You'll also need a 30A fuse in the engine room fuse box at the Towing spot. A relay for the Towing Tails with a another 30A fuse.

Removing these and insert the connectors of the relay harness.

Okay, I'll order the 82241-04060 relay and the 81980-04050 turn signal flasher. This makes more sense as per the earliest part of this thread. And FYI to all those that may add the hitch harness to their '12-'15's, that four pin connector is behind (as in out of visibility) a series of connectors, I had to reach it by hand (with the aid of the picture and CM's identification). And it is held by black tape, not white (as in the '06). The PT725-35120 comes with the towing tail relay and (2) 30A fuses. Remind me please again on your lowest price source. Thanks, I will re-post when all is completed.

Please forgive my dumb, but I'm sensing some redundancy here. Since the flasher assembly #81980-04050 and flasher assembly sub wire harness #82241-04060 come with the PT275-35120 trailer wire harness kit, isn't that everything I need for both the hitch and DRL? In other words, doesn't PT275-35120 cover all my needs? I've read the Toyota hitch installation instructions which shows a complete part listing, it's all there. Or am I missing something here? Thanks, I'm on the brink of ordering and want to be sure I have it right.

Well if it's listed in the kit you're good to go.

Okay, I got the harness kit, and have initiated on installation. Question here. Where does the white plug at he top of this picture connect? I don't remember unplugging it. It has one red wire running to it. Thanks.

Too easy, thank you. When I get this project done, I'll supply some feedback on things not mentioned in the installation info.

First phase (DRL) done, ran out of time for the hitch harness. As my rig had no prior DRL network, there was no harness at 1M, just a stubborn gray cap. Major drag to get off. Likewise for the 1L flasher relay. And the PT725-35120 instructions did not make mention of this, nor show a good illustration. Well I think I have all the connections right, but the DRL's are dim, barely noticeable. Turn signals and 4 ways worked fine so I have to have the flasher assembly correct. As I mentioned, I don't have the tow harness wired yet (tomorrow), could that have an impact? I'll re-check wiring tomorrow if you think it necessary, I haven't buttoned the lower dash down yet. Thank you again for all your input.
