So I scratched my tailgate down to the metal with my dumbass floor jack handle. Its about a 3 inch scratch. My OCD will not let this be, I have to get it fixed. How much should I expect to pay a bodyshop paint it? Will the whole thing need to be repainted?

Brand new truck. 400 miles. Was installing a lift kit and my jack blows.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Buy some touch-up paint and call it good. The first scratch is a good thing, then you don't have to sweat every blemish :D

Touch up paint. The first scratch and ding is the worst. Now you can have guilt free fun

I feel your pain op. I did the same f'ing thing the SAME DAY I bought mine... Less than 50 miles on it. Moving poles around in my garage to make room for my truck to fit and banged 1 pole into my driver door. Mine was only about an inch long. Bought touch up paint at the dealer and got my brother in law (who works at a body shop) to fix it for me. Can't even tell its there now.

I totally understand the OCD but it IS a truck. Just know that that will be the first of many, at least you know it where it came from. Silver and white and pretty forgiving with touch up paint. Pro tip is to use a tooth pick and take your time. A professional detailer may do a better job if you really want.

Scratch it in a few more places on the truck and you'll forget about that one.

I had a few small scratches on my tailgate and was told about $400. Reason was because they are preping and painting and clear-coating the whole tailgate, no matter how big or small the scratch is.

Quite a few things at this point..
If that's all it is, don't look at this lol. Was like this on all sides if my truck after a 6 day offroad roadtrip.

My first scratch some asshole drove down the side of it in a parking lot on campus at a month-ish old Second someone hit me on the highwaya few weeks later and bolted. Shit sucks, but that's hardly a scratch! Just accept it and keep on going.

Just slap a race face bicycle pad over it. :D

Before taking it to the body shop, I'd hit it hard with some cutting polish, see what that does. It might not take it out completely, but it might make it much less visible.
