:hattip:Just wanted to note my experience for other people out there.

I have been having some weird issues For exactly a week with ‘rough idling’ on start up, even worsened if my AC kicked in. The check engine light came on after a rough start just the other day, I called my dealer Thursday and couldn’t make a walk in, scheduled earliest Sept 10th.
Was told to check gas cap. Gas cap appeared to be fine, but I took it off and put it back on til ‘click’, light went away. Seemed all right, til just an hour ago, I turned truck on, light came on, rough idle, then I lost any sort of acceleration pulling out onto main road, pulled to a gas station threw it in S4, it Acted ‘normal’, then would not get past 20mph when I tried to pull back onto main road. I pulled to a merging lane, threw on the Haz, turned truck off, turned back on, into Drive, and luckily was not far from home and drove it back, under normal conditions. Dealership is closed til Monday, so I’m a little bummed out.

    2019
    6k miles.
    Automatic transmission.
    Full tank gas.
    State of Hawaii.

I am in the state of Hawai’i. I’ll have to take a look through thread for the warm weather significance

I have a 2019 trd 4x4 with 12k miles. Feeling paranoid was well. Hoping she makes it to when they have the part. I need a pickup that is 4x4 so getting a camry as a loaner is not an option.

Can corroborate. Mine said end of September. Considering there are over 300K Tacos affected, getting a slot in the bay will be interesting.

Nice find, good to know. Please post pics and anything else notable - definitely worthy of its own thread because I see more of us replacing this ourselves due to the ever increasing backlog of pumps the dealer will have to replace

I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD OR automatic. Bought new in San Antonio Tx . Aug of 19. Mine isn't on for recall. Is Toyota using different pumps for different models? Just curious on why i didnt recieve a recall notice or are all 2019 Tacomas affected?

It affects the early made 19 and late made 18s. Mine is stuck at the dealer for over a month with failed fuel pump.. both corporate and dealer say the new fuel pumps should ship in end of September

It's not just the late '18's. My march '18 build is on the list, unfortunately.

How late does the recall go? My 2019 was built 12/18.

You need to go to the Toyota owners page (register) and enter your VIN to see if there are any recalls.

Anyone who has changed the pump themselves- notice any change in drivability or engine behaviour? I swear mines dying just enough to not throw codes but cause Minor issues... if that’s even possible.

Reading through this thread reminded me of a fuel pump that acted up on an Audi 80. Summer of 1999 on trip from Iowa to Denver in BFN it starts stalling. Get into a little town with tumble weeds and an old mechanic tells me to pour a quart of transmission fluid in the gas tank. Well, it not only got me to Denver, but several weeks past till I had time to change it. If you get caught in a pinch...

Aloha neighbor! Bring yours in. I had same
Symptoms on my 2019 With 8k miles. I know different island but shouldn’t be an issue for them to replace. I took mines in the following day and they took diagnostic and it was fuel pump and is aware about the ongoing recall. They replaced it under warranty but Sad part is that they told me because there’s no “fix” yet they replaced it with a new current fuel oem pump so there’s a possibility it could happen again. Anytime there’s a recall, a new part number is issued for it.

Usually I would do the replacement but I brought mines in because of warranty. I’ll be replacing it later with OVTunes kit eventually to solve this issue.

here’s the printed sheet from toyota.

How does Ovtune alleviate this fuel pump issue?

I thought this was mechanical failure of the low pressure fuel pump?
