The F150 does not hold its value at all. Had two of them as work trucks. Always issues. Would never buy one again. Tacoma or Tundra is the only way to go. Both of them hold there value and in my opinion are great trucks.

Well perfect time for this thread imo. My 19 dcsb trdor is broke down at the shop with the failed fuel pump. Toyota dealer has had it for a month.. the repair fuel pump is not available for at least another month.. in the meantime.. the dealer gave me a 2019 F150 4x4 ecoboost as a loaner so I've been driving that for a month.
Here are my thoughts. The engine and power if the F150 is awesome!! It will spin the rear wheels even while moving.. the transmission shifts are completely undetectable.. just a great combo.. i like hearing the subtle whine of the turbo as it spools up.! I recently drove from Vegas to Salt Lake and averaged 22 mpg in the F150..with the turbo there is zero downshift going up grade..the turbo just kicks in and pulls the truck
The negatives to me.. its too big..won't fit in my garage.. its a little tougher to park.. but i just go farther out in the parking lot.

The interior on the taco looks better to me..

The deck of the bed floor on the F150 is substantially higher. Im 6'0 tall and reaching over the bed rails to get stuff out of the bed is more difficult due to the height compared to the taco..
I think the driver seat in the f150 is too high.. id want a height adjustable driver seat..(get a package with full center console and adjustable seat problem solved)
The rear back up cam on the f150 is much more clear and higher res and better color than the taco..

Don't know how the f150 is offroad yet..but ill be doing that this weekend so ill let you know.. obviously its wider and longer so.. im sure it won't be as good as the taco.. but ill let you know my thoughts..
But the engine and tranny is swaying me.

I thought taco was more reliable but.. since mine has been broke down for a month going on two months.. im really disappointed in tacoma.. might trade for something else.. and f150 is giving me good things to think about.
I have had 2 other fords before and they have had problems..
Had several toyotas with no problems so.. once I get my taco back I'm sure I'll keep it.. but sucks not having it for an unreasonable extended period..
Oh. One last thing.. my taco has way more cup holders..especially in the doors.. kinda a stupid thing..but i use them when I'm out hunting.. f150 lacks that

I personally really like the F150 and would have one if I had a bigger garage. I like my Tacoma as well especially with the 6MT.

    Do it.

I traded my 2012 4x4 Tacoma 2 months ago for a 2019 F150 4x4 5.0. Needed more room for the family. It took about a month to get used to a bigger truck. I installed a custom tune from Oz tuning and holy shit this thing is fun to drive. It took me a while to get used to it, but I really like it now. I do miss my 2012 taco, but that's okay because I still have my 2004, which has right at 290,000 miles. Best vehicle I ever owned and will never get rid of it.

I think I would characterize my thinking like this:
    • Loved the established reliability of Tacomas
    • Love the look of my TRDOR and had wanted one for years
    • My confidence was shook by the blown transmission and coolant leak
    • Had never driven a full sized truck until the Tundra loaner the dealership has given me
    • Absolutely love the feel of more power and the huge interior (kids really appreciate the additional leg room in the back)
I think I've now made up my mind to trade in the Tacoma and get a full sized truck. Likely a V6 F150 or a Tundra. I like the Tundra, but the gas mileage and additional price are detractors

Overall, I think I just like the feel of the bigger truck even though I still think my TRDOR looks better.

Question about the F150s, can this feature be turned off:

I wouldn't because I could not afford to trade out of a truck after only three years; however, if that is not an issue and you want a larger truck with nearly the same MPG, I say go for it. You can write up the comparison and report back to us in a year.

Yes. I was able to have my turned off with a tune. There is also a button you can push to turn it off, but you have to turn it off everytime you drive it because it resets when turned off. The tune turns it off and stays off until you reactivate it.

How did you go about getting that tune?

Bought it from Oz tuning. Google them and check out their page. I'm using the nGauge with the Omega tune.

My tacoma is paid off, but I still didn't anticipate getting rid of it near this soon.

I wouldn't be happy if I had to replace the transmission but I wouldn't be that mad just because it doesnt cost you anything due to warranty. I didnt catch the reason why you have to pay for a coolant leak. Me personally I dont need a full size truck cause I only carry myself and a passenger and a dog and that leaves plenty of room. I agree with majority on 4x4, it's better to have it and not use it that to not have it and wish you did have it. I been driving Tacomas since the 90's and would never change from Toyota but that's just me there is no guarantee that if you went to a ford that you would be problem free but no one here can really make that decision but you

No way. I'm keeping my taco for 10 years. By that time they will probably want too much money for them and then I'll go for the Ford.

I just found this. Looks like it couldn't be much simpler to turn off this feature:

Just wait until the Turbo craps out for you, and the Ford lovely startstop. I have an Explorer for work and always forget to hit that dumb disable switch.
