Special ordered Tacoma made in Mexico?

I was wanting to know out of curiosity but has anyone ever special ordered a Tacoma that happened to be made in Mexico instead of Texas?

 

Yes there is but ok

 

if i remember only the off-road and pro were made in Texas the others in mexico

Which Tacomas are built in Texas?

Toyota has announced plans to shift all production of the best-selling Tacoma to Mexico staring in 2021. The automaker currently builds the Tacoma at two locations in Mexico and in its factory in San Antonio, Texas, where it also makes the full-size Tundra pickup.

 

Toyota will not make one based on your order. That is why you can’t get certain options in combination, or in certain trims. When dealer special orders one for you, they either reserve one in the production queue with specs close enough, or they trade one from another dealer. But no, Toyota will not built a truck for you based on an order.

 

I’ve seen so many folks post on here about how their “special order” didn’t come with certain options that they had “ordered”.

Seems like the dealers just order the closest tacoma that they can find for you. It’s not like the factory is building this tacoma to your spec’s.

Ps; I ordered My Tacoma , sport , and it was made in mexico, i don't know if it was "special ordered" but it was for me back in 2016 !

I recently ordered a 2021 and I was under the impression this is exactly how it works.

 

You can get an “allocation” that’s how I ordered my trd pro 4 runners. They have the build out before they build it and the higher volume dealers get preferential allocations. You can reserve an allocation before it is built, but it will be what it is.

 

Not for me. waited over 2 months for it to be made and the dealer sent me the build date.
and yes they DO build what you want, it just get put into the list to get done

Can you get SR5 with limited interior and rear locker? No. They don’t produce anything based on customer orders. Dealers can see what is in the production queue, and if they see one with specs close enough, they reserve it. Build day you got is the day that truck in production queue was actually assembled. Even if you didn’t order it, they would have built the exact same truck anyhow.

What you stated is called allocation, not custom ordered. Two different things sorry.

 

All the frames are built in Mexico, rusty and non-rusty ones.

 

From what I researched, certain configurations are built in certain plants
TRD Pros are always in Texas
DoubleCab Long Bed are in Mexico

 

My 2017 Off Road was built in Mexico.

 

Well then, tell them to make it in Texas
