Hood scoop is for a future option thrust reverser from that 3.5 litres of fury. The feature will be unleashed via a TSB in the future

Yeah. Left foot brake, right foot gas. It can’t brake each wheel independently.

Drum brakes work good! My little travel trailer has electric drums and if I crank up the controller to max it brakes the truck AND trailer. They heat up but the truck isn’t doing hardly any work.

The 3rd gen 4x4 sport isn't as good off road as the 3rd gen 2wd SR5s, but they are better than the 2nd Gen 4X4 ORs.

    Stawk as FUCK!
I just want to see a situation in real life where someone with lockers in their 4x4 Tacoma can go somewhere that someone without lockers in their 4x4 Tacoma, assuming all else equal. 99% of the time, I'd bet driver mod can easily make up for lack of lockers.

    Yeah I'd disagree.

We routinely take guys out without lockers that have been wheeling for decades and it always takes them a good amount of more time to get up our ledges than the guys who are locked and just stroll right yo them.

Pretty much an every other weekend kind of event really.

There's plenty of folks who can do it with both pedals. But the time it takes and the ease just isn't there most of the time.

Honestly I've only had it happen 1 time. It was an off camber with a large Boulder on the right. Deep ruts on the left and a large root. Managed to hit it just right to where he got hung up on the Boulder and the left tire was wedged pretty good behind the rut. I took the same line but locked and had a noticeable advantage.

I know it's weird to think of and not see, but it really did make a noticeable difference.

Perfect example(s) of when a locker is useful. They did both front and rear but around the 1 min mark you see there is so much rear articulation their hilux lifts and needs to be locked.

In the large sand ledges that high-tide cuts in the beach. Tried to plow up them using the various mts settings and crawl control. Maybe it would have made it up, but as I started to dig tire holes I backed out and didn't want to chance it. I turn on the locker, it drives right up like its on pavement. To be fair I don't have to do this, I can either park on top of the ledge and carry down my chair and cooler, or go further where its flatter. But its so much fun!

Funny part of this is people trying to say a truck with a locker is as capable as one without as if one wheel with grip is better than two. Open Differentials have a great way of applying all your torque to the wheel with the least grip.

TFL demonstrated this in the 2020 TRD Pro. They ran into the issue that I've seen here on a few 2020 models where Crawl Control wasn't working right. Tommy then had to engage the rear locker to get over the obstacle.

I get what you’re saying, but for the scenario in which you replied, the argument was capability, or making it to the end, not the time or ease of making it to the end.

Something like that video I posted, but on a narrow shelf road where your line is chosen for you. Not a place you can try and use momentum to force yourself through, backing up is sketchy, so you lock the rear and slowly roll yourself through. Happens a decent amount here in Colorado. Or you're sandwiched between trees
