I have a 2000 Tacoma the 2.7 liter. Had a grinding noise in frontend while driving. Replace ball joint and tire rod got it realigned. Drove five blocks from the shop and it happens again. Mainly happens after bumps in the road. When coming to a stop it will grind until I stop when I start to go it won’t grind and sometime it will. Any idea?

A frozen caliper piston will cause a brake pad to wear down and grind metal on metal on the rotor. Usually the inside one because it's so hard to see visually. What everybody is saying is, pull your wheel and tire off and look at your brakes lol.

is the noise speed related meaning the faster you go the faster the sound repeats ? if not then it isnt something that is rotating.
    is she a 4X4?

Re-Read OP....Sounds like metal on metal from worn down brake pads.
