I know everyone has a boner for the Kicker CS's mentioned in the various "upgrade your system for less than $250" threads, but what are some other quality options for speaker upgrades without an amp? Considering that the Kicker CS 6x9's are $110 now, I figure that there's got to be some other good options in that price range.

I've already upgraded to the Subaru Kicker dash tweeters, and I'm mostly looking at front door replacements. So far, the ones that jump out at me are:
Anyone have any experience or thoughts on any of these?

Honestly, I’m happy with the Kickers. If I were you I’d stop by a car stereo shop and play with listening to different brands.

Look at you and you're logic... you're a shame to TW.

For reals though, thanks for the suggestion.

I put Infinity REF-9623ix in my truck, still using the stock HU, the basic Entune one. The improvement over stock speakers was pretty good. Not much more volume but the clarity was impressive. The 23's are discontinued but I would imagine the 32's are just as good. I also put kicker tweeters in as well.

I swapped mine out for Fosgates. I did it last week. Paired with tweeters and my JL Stealthbox W3 it rips. Sounds so much clearer and better. Headunit will eventually go but for now I don't mind listening to free Sirius.

Paid 100 for them both shipped with brackets and harnesses. Crutchfield includes them free

    CHEERS!!

I used to sell home audio, and I can not recommend this strongly enough! Different speakers have different tonal response. Some will be "crisper" (sharper highs), some will be "warmer" (more in the mid to bass response). Some will be more neutral. Nothing wrong with any of them, but it is absolutely up to what you like.

I did too. I loved the demo rooms. Especially when people wanted to see what the "best"stuff we had sounded like. BOOOOM

Too bad Martin Logan can't fit these into a Taco:

Kickers here, doors and dash. Big improvement. Considering the sub, but not sure I want to give up the space behind the seat.

The stealthbox and amp basically take up both spots behind seat. But it sounds so good!!!!

Another vote for the Morel Tempo Ultras, though you'll need to feed them plenty of power. Ours are running at 125W per side.

I know they're not cheap, but the real question is, will I also need an amp to make them sound good? Expensive speakers aren't always the best option if you're not going to provide more power.

I can't answer that truthfully since I never used em without the amp.

Nice, those are cheaper than the other Rockford Fosgates I posted. Do you have them amped up, or just running off of the head unit?

I might be able to be convinced to get a Kicker Key amp too if it really makes that big of a difference.

Just using the stock entune. Thought about that too. I wouldn't mind a little extra volume. Quality is there though. I like music REALLY loud so I am interested if that makes a big difference using the Kicker Key. I already have 400W going to the w3 stealthbox. That I def recommend for bass. Pricey but so clean!

Are you using it to just amp door speakers?

    This is my sub amp:
