Has anyone upgraded the seats in the 2012-2015? I have a jacked up back from too many motorcycle wrecks and this seat kills me on rides over an hour or two. My play car is a 1995 Volvo T-5R and the seats are a million times better...I can drive for hours with no issue in that car.

I rode in a buddy’s newer 4Runner and the seats seem a good bit better than my 2015 TRD Sports seats. Has anyone swapped in seats from a T4R? Or anything else?

You didn't say how tall you are but the cheapest things to try would be seat risers (front/back/both?) I believe there is currently a group buy/discount out there. Just search seat risers. Thx

I have searched for upgraded seats until I am blue in the face. The solution is to find and interview a good upholstery shop near you that sells and installs Katzkin then have them re shape and add foam as needed to make the seats fitted to you. Will cost around $1000 total all said and done between materials and labor. You can order Scheel-Man seats but will cost you about $5k to have them bolt into the front and that leaves the rear factory....

FRS seats have been installed. There is a thread on that. Probably not what you're looking for.

Have some fab tools, you could fairly easily swap any other seat of choice in.

Planted, makes brackets to adapt race seats in.

Corbeau has bolt in brackets for their seats, to work with the Tacoma.

I’ve got the rear risers and they helped a little bit. I’m just about 6’

If you added (or already have) seat covers, do you think there is anything you could add beneath it that would help? Is there any particular area of support that you're looking to improve on? Too bad you couldn't get another T-5R seat and make it work for you since you're comfortable in that.

Move the sensor over to the new seat?

FJ seat sliders bolt to the Tacoma. Possibly rhe T4R as well. Up to you to figure out with some simple measurements.

You could slap in a set of sparco r-100s. I would recommend you put the loudest tires you can on your truck and remove the entire interior. That way you're less likely to focus on how uncomfortable the seats are.

I know nothing about the sensors in these cars, which is why I was asking. So it’s as easy as moving a sensor? I assumed there was airbags built into the seat

If you, say, swapped in an FJ or T4R seat, then the plugs for the ABS sensor may be exactly the same.

The sensor is on the rail and determines how close the seat is to the steering wheel.

Oh there will be some mods all right
When I had a second gen I thought the seats were slightly lacking too, and I bought some seat covers with built-in padding and they made the seats way more comfortable.
