Special ordered Tacoma made in Mexico?

I am pretty sure the tri-fold oem tonneau cover has to come from factory because different parts are needed. A dealer can't do that.

It is the opposite. 3 is Mexico, 5 is San Antonio. All Pros and manual transmission 2020s were built in Texas. Others were built in Mexico.

 

Not so sure. Friend of mine had a trd or that was ordered with a tonneau cover, and it came in without it. Dealer ended up offering a similar aftermarket cover at his cost after making several calls to have the factory tonneau cover shipped up to them. Apparently toyota doesn't do that.

 

Or it may sit on a dealers lot for nearly 2 years like the 93 toyota 4x4 truck i bought. Dealer got sick of having it on his lot...even other dealers had no customers that wanted it. I offered him a low ball price about 3 weeks earlier. Then they called me asking if i still wanted it. I think all in all neither one of us were really happy....while that truck wasn't a lemon, it was a dog of all dogs.

 

Custom ordering a tacoma is like ordering a whopper without pickles, the whopper was going to be made before you got there.

 

The tonneau cover for the Tacoma is not available as a port- or dealer-installed option in the USA, it is factory only and is installed at the factory when the truck is built.

A dealer can, and does do that (in Canada). Toyota Canada orders all Tacomas without the tonneau cover and sells the cover as a dealer-insalled option using the factory parts. We remove the different parts and throw them out when we install the OE tonneau cover on Tacomas in Canada.

To me this is still considered custom to you then. Same thing if you added bacon, It would have been made but not with bacon unless you ordered it.

 

Yeah but is bacon a port installed accessory like predator steps or a factory option like LED headlights?

 

I don't think most people want to know that your whopper is not hand crafted with care. It's a frozen puck ran through a chain broiler by some guy that's smoked at lunch with the assistant manager shannon

 

I mean it to be factory like headlights or tonneau, but I definitively understand here your coming from here.

Okay, just read through nine pages of this drivel, and either missed the OP's post where he listed what exactly he "custom ordered", or in typical forum style, it has yet to be listed.
