Okay, I'll drink some of this koolaid. I went into the dealer for my 16 with specific things I wanted the truck to have, while also finding out that even the dealer didn't know you couldn't have the JBL with the manual. Who knew. Anyway, it was just put in as an allocation for a specific "build" that when they found it/made it, one would be shipped and I'd get it. I actually think they found it at another dealer a couple states away and shipped it over. There is no real "custom", they just find one that you specifically asked for or wait until one is built and then send it.

 

Timetraveller would disagree. He got the TRD SS (Special Snowflake Edition) The only one in existence in fact. It comes with black seats and a lack of knowledge.

I'm probably wrong but I heard you can get Ford to build a specific truck. With their thousand a la carte packages and options it would be hard to get exactly what you want with the allocation method.

 

Wouldn't be surprised. You could probably run through their build&price to see what it pops up with, but they build those things so fast there's probably somethin out there that fits the bill.

 

We sometimes get them cheaper do to a fixed price the distribution sets for Toyota’s in general. There’s a monopoly on Oahu with only one dealer that’s Servco. There’s no shopping around but they don’t market adjust mark up either.

Arrived in April after being redirected from a sister dealer to the one I bought from (Larry H Miller in Colorado Springs). VIN Begins with 3 and assembly location is Baja, California (AKA Mexico).
