    Thanks for chiming in. No, my truck wasn't running when I had tested it, so that was probably the reason for the visual discrepancy. I much prefer the light halogens put out vs LED's since I find viewing things easier. I'll give it another go, this time with the truck running :bananadead:.
    I wish I did have a legit light meter to use. I'll try the visual comparison you described.
    I couldn't help but notice that the halogens really heat up quick compared to the LED's. I know that's the nature of the different lights and I probably wouldn't have the reverse on long anyway. Thanks again.

    The halogens do heat up quickly by their nature. I’ve tested running in reverse for 30 minutes without issue. I’ve had to reverse out of long very tight trails that we changed course on going down as well as stationary extended time testing. But the LED actually does get extremely hot too, just not as quick and the heat is on the heat sink on the back of the housing so it isn’t apparent by putting your hand on the lens. A key difference is overdriven LEDs are killed by heat, whereas halogens are unaffected by it.

    @crashnburn80, thank you for all the hard work testing different lights and posting the results. I've not seen this question asked - do you happen to know if the Gy6.35 HIR bulbs work in a 5th gen (2019 specifically) 4Runner?

    I believe the 4runner also utilizes 921 reverse lights, so the HIR mod would work.

    Wow, they actually made an adapter specifically for this mod?! I’m somewhat speechless.

    How secure are the bulbs?

    Edit: although based on reviews looks like people are commonly using it for LED gy6.35 bulbs, which seems odd being you can just get the appropriate bulb in LED.

    Someone at SuperBright (with a 1st gen) must be trolling this forum and found this thread.
    You are clearly a thought leader and an influencer...

    It's been two or three weeks, so I don't really remember how secure they fit. However, they were definitely secure enough not to make me worry about it.

    Sub'd. I have a 2000 4Runner and hope to pick up a 2010 Taco this weekend. I see 5-6 of these bulbs coming in my future. Extra's just in case i snap one. Those superbright adaptors should be great on the 4Runner. Now time to read his Headlight/Foglight thread and educate myself on his info
