So I’ve lowered a new engine into the truck and have the engine on the spline that comes out of the transmission. I have it about an inch away from being seated right so I can bolt it up but I can’t seem to make the little studs that come off of the engine to go into their holes on the trans. Day 2 and running out of ideas

Take the trans out. Bolt up the engine. Put the trans back in.

Do not force it or you will trash the trans pump. Mate the converter up to the trans it has to fit deep into the bell housing spin it until it does once the trans is matted to the engine there should be a gap between the converter and the flex plate. Your issue is the converter it is not all the way back.

    :annoyed:
It’s less than an inch from being able to be bolted in, there’s just 2 nubs that have to be lined up and fit into their holes. I just can’t seem to find a way get them into place

This^^^^ would be my guess. Sometimes you gotta spin the torque converter by hand quite a bit while pushing it back towards the transmission, to get it to seat in the pump. DON'T force it.

In this pic it doesn’t look like the tranny and block are not sitting at the same angle. Don’t force it. My vote is for pulling the tranny as mentioned previously.

Spin the torque converter. I bet it isn't sitting in the slots for the pump correctly. The faces of the engine and tranny should be at the same angle otherwise they will never mate together. Pull it out and double check.

I had the same issue you're facing for awhile, what I did was jack the transmission up so it could match the angle of the engine a little better. At that point I had about an inch gap at the top of the bellhousing, but the bottom of the bellhousing was sitting flush so I put the bottom bolts in and started lowering both the engine at the same time. I just kept putting bolts in as everything was lining up and used the bolts to pull the engine and bellhousing together.

If a used engine is going in, you may have too many dowel pins.

Check to see that only 2 dowel pins are in the engine, and none are stuck in the transmission.
