Not sure what they did, but just unplug that one red wire, and follow the other red wire down and unhook it from where its connected. Be sure to re-seal the wires after you remove everything.

Do you have wired lights in your topper?

It may be a 12 volt to the fuse box, some wiring demands a constant 12 volt to work properly. But I think the other posts are on the right track.
I bet you could just disconnect the topper and seal the wires, that's what I did on mine.

    They used "T" wire taps.
You can grap the red plastic part that is over the wire, and pull the blue spade connector out.
They tapped your brake light wire at the tail light, and they other one must lead to a 12v constant supply for the dome.

I would pull the tap off and put some liquid electrical tape or similar over the slit in the wire.

    This is how they work:

Probably powered constant for power, if you can find it in your fuse box you can just remove it there if you want. and they tapped the break light, remove it or clip it and make sure to cover where the wire is exposed

For quick remove. Unplug green circle, cut red wire in yellow circle and tape it off since it’s live.

    for correct remove.
1)Unplug green, remove that shit red splice (they should be banned), cover wire shielding that it cut with decent electrical tape, or liquid tape.
    2) cut yellow and follow wire back to origin and remove wire and fix what ever mess they created on the other end of that wire.

Woot! I was right! That black box after the red wire starts is an online fuse. I did that to use less stress on my brake lights when I wired my trailer lights.

Agree with everything he said. Those things should be banned. Solder and shrink is key.

thank you so much for your help!

This is why friends don’t let friends have shops of ill repute install stuff on their trucks. :)

Probably but you can rather easily test it if you have a multi meter or any 12v powered light.

Or, he can follow the wire to its other end... I mean if he wants it back to stock, he going to want to remove that wire anyhow.
