Cleaning too often just leads to premature wear.

For my target guns, I don't clean them at all until groups begin to open up.

One rifle wasn't clean for about 800 rounds and was still holding 1/4 MOA

 

Fucking ball joint on my buddies honda failed on the side of the road, replaced that shit

 

Only gun I clean on a regular is my carry. And that's mainly just fresh oil once a week. But I clean my hunting rifle once a year.

 

Tues we play COD and Wednesdays we wear pink

I normally did a ladder test when seasons changed, and compare them with factory ammo even.

Here's just a quick visit at a super old target of mine shooting both factory ammo (consistently 1/2 MOA), and 2 different loads (41.7 1/3 MOA and 42.3 1 MOA). All 5 shot groups.



I've got notepads on different rifles and barrels with my results at different charges.

That'll go out the window real quick if I cleaned a barrel out as I'd need to foul it up again before things get back to being consistent.

Years of carry and mine has been cleaned 1x

 

I never clean my carry....but I do function checks maybe once every couple of months and cycle the slide a few times with dummy rounds.

 

My uncle taught me not to clean it after I sight it in for the season

I also shoot my carry on the regular got to keep up the skills. 8 years of shooting the same pistol and I still suck. I shoot the Glock better than my hk or my 5-7

 

My rifle is exposed to November Indiana weather. Main reason why it's a cheap at pistol in 300 blackout. $200 upper on a psa lower.

 

I like to believe so. He is one of the few people to have taken the time to teach me shit about being an outdoorsman and put up with my dumbness

 

I can just imagine you asking him. "Can I eat it's ass?"

 

I always try and teach precision, or at the very least, the many variables in ammunition that affect how it fires.

Yea, I hate to change ammo mid season. I bought a load of Winchester deer xp for 300 blackout. But yes I clean my guns to often. But that's just me never had a failure of any kind. And before you ask. My 338 Lapua is at 300 rounds right now haven't cleaned it.

But my ar is at 3,000 still not cleaned. It's just my carry which gets fresh oil on it or cleaned depending on the round count. And my hunting gun which gets cleaned and resighted in.
