Dogs absolutely mourn the loss of a pack-mate, I've experienced it and it was a whole new side of her I'd never seen before.

It’s a small crumb. I shot you not, Riley will sit and look for the smallest crumb for hours.

    Yeah.
I never found out, they eventually gave up. They just knock it right back under there if I get it out for them.

I have a large ruff land kennel for my GSP but dont have a softtopper. I dont see why it should be a problem. There seems to be a lot of room. 902A54EA-F077-4249-8BB1-07AB1A6BE1A4.jpg

While his big brother had no intention of leaving his favorite spot under my desk. Probably partially because he doesnt fit in smaller places like his brother20200910_201554.jpg

    :annoyed:
so 2 years ago I lost my grandpa on my dads side and within 2 weeks my lab died.
This past week my grandpa on my moms side passed away and dad texted yesterday (I was out of state) saying he accidentally dropped the trailer gate on my dogs leg because she ran out while he wasn’t looking.
It skinned the leg a little bit but didn’t look terrible, tonight I flew back into town and when we got home Athena wasn’t putting the leg on the ground (I thought she was from my short conversation with dad this morning) so after about 20 minutes I decided we were going to go to the vet tonight.

Vet did X-rays and sure enough she has 4 fractured toes. They’re sedating her to re-set them and thankfully she’s crate trained and pretty chill so she should do all right for the healing process (still unknown amount of time).

I’m thankful it’s not worse but this BS of stuff happening to the pups after a family member passes away needs to stop.

Sorry to hear about this. I hope the healing goes quick and her pain is minimal.

I prefer having him inside a kennel. The large ruff land kennel is too big for the second row seats.

When we ride mine goes in a kennel as well. I have heavy duty turnbuckles holding it in. It’ll likely be better off than anything else in case of emergency

Thanks bill, we just got home from the vet and other than being unsteady from the sedation and not being used to the cone she seems to be much more comfortable, unfortunately she’ll be confined to kennel other than potty breaks for the foreseeable future (vet visit in 7-10 days should give more info), but it’s looking like 7-8 weeks for most of the recovery to happen.

3 years, 10 months, basically 4, she’s healthy overall and not old so she should heal pretty well.
