Seriously thinking about selling my 05 access cab for a double cab newer model Tacoma. These are the mods that I currently have.

    - Donahoe 2.5 coilovers, Bilstien shocks
    - Coated FJ wheels
    - Relentless Fab front bumper (sort of have to leave this)
    - Warn 8000, syn line
    - Hella 4000's
    - 285/70/17 Duratracs, 5k miles
    - Jason camper top with Thule rack

Really debating whether or not to leave all the mods to sell it. I know they don't add much value but might to the right buyer. Not really sure I would be able to remove everything to sell separately anyways. Can't afford to buy another truck first. I'm guessing I have roughly $3000 (used value) in mods that I could sell separately. Thoughts???

Mods are currently being changed .....
You'll always get more if you part it out. Typically you need to find a specific buyer to recoupe mod money, so you kinda shrink your buyer pool by adding 3k to your asking price.
Something like a camper top may be valuable to any buyer, but I would think few would find value in coilovers or whatever.

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
I'd keep a lot of that mainly items 2-6.

I really wish I could but it would be a major PITA to find stuff to replace everything. Anybody want to swap straight up? :)

That front end will sell for sure. You pretty much have your truck the way I'd like mine to be someday. I'd be all over it with a swap and cash if you were closer. Right now everyone who is drooling lives too far away, but keep trying and some local dude will find you and you'll be all set. There are a ton of black 05+ Tacomas out there. You'll find someone. Try listing on Craigslist, ebay, etc.

Craigslist is free. You'd be amazed. You might be able to sell your truck the way it is, and get the money you want for it. Like I said, it's free on Craigslist, so get your camera out and load some pics up of that bad boy. Sheeeeit, I sold my old 95 Geo Prism for like $1500. I listed it late one night and the next morning the phone was blowing up and my email inbox was on fire. If you list it, they will come. :D

Good Luck and nice truck ya got there.

keep everything you have stock parts for and can get off

on my prev truck i kept the stereo, tie downs, and camper shell

let the flowmaster catback go with it because it was of no use since i want to put duals on my new truck, and i had to cut the stock exhaust to get it off anyways

i'd try to sell it as it is at first, to an individual of course. the dealership will pay you less than what the truck is worth, mod value not included. then they will turn around and sell it for much more than they payed you for it, along with the value of the mods. assholes.

so if you don't have any bites trying to sell it as it is, then get it back to stock and try again. if you still don't have any takers at stock, i would try to just trade in at the dealership. you would have a good chunk towards the new or newer truck, plus those mods/parts would go quick if you put them up on here. or if you could always save some of them for the new truck.

Thanks for the info guys. I'd probably let it go with all the mods (minus the camper top maybe) for $18k. 80k miles 6spd runs perfect. Oh, it's not a true TRD though so no locker. Just an SR5.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Remove the camper shell and give to me :D! Its worthless on or off the truck, I'll take it that worthless thing off your hands.

Like everyone else says, part it out. If you are trading in to dealer, stock is better, and likewise if you are selling to an individual, you have a broader market with stock.

Phshah. Unless you kept all your factory stock parts so you can put them back on, you're gonna take a bath on this -- don't do it.

You finally got the truck the way you want it, and now you're swapping it for something different?

It seems like a good idea to buy a new double cab and swap things over from old truck to new truck - putting the new parts onto the old one. BUT:

But your shell is color-matched to black sand pearl, and the new trucks are just black. So the shell isn't going to look right on the new truck...

and the new black bumper will look awful on the old black-sand-pearl one...

and the spring rates are different between double cab and access cab so you'll be mildly "over-springing" the old one by installing the new truck's suspension on it.

As you've observed, no one wants to pay a premium for a modded truck. I occasionally see a nice custom rigwith a for sale sign PAINTED in nice script onto the back window where it's perpetually there. Yeah, *everything* is for sale for the right price.
