@MOC221_ has started tweaking it. Last I knew he was experimenting with some of the throttle tables

I noticed back when I was tuning my Subaru's that I would make tweaks and more tweaks and pretty soon the file name was ridiculously long, so I started naming them test 1, test 2, etc. and then i keep a simple notepad file in the the same folder where I save my tune files and add notes with details for each file as to which tables I changed and how. Makes it much easier to remember what I did and go back and find revisions that I liked or ones that didn't work as intended.

Sorry, I tend to get busy and go weeks without checking on here. Anyway, I didn't notice any adverse effects with engine braking, I mean I never felt like it had real strong engine braking to begin with but I don't think this hurt it any. For the most part this just seemed to make the throttle more predictable in my opinion, giving it x amount of throttle now seems to do the same thing regardless of what rpm it's at. As far as DFCO goes, this didn't seem to make much difference there either as far as I can tell. I will say, after I posted this I ended up going back and ramping up the initial throttle tip in curve even more and I think I might have gone a little too far, or just didn't do it smoothly enough, made things a little jerky so I need to go back and find a happy middle ground. But overall I'm very happy with the changes.

I also still want to try to get rid of rev hang as much as possible and I'm not sure how much of that is the ecu not allowing the throttle to close quickly vs. other factors like fueling and timing tables needing adjustment. There are some tables called "Port Fuel - Decel Lift Injection Spray Adder" which I adjusted from their previous setting of 1.53ms (I assume milliseconds?), down to 0. I feel like this helped a little bit but didn't completely get rid of it, and may have made things a little jerky so I plan to play with it a little more. Problem is I just don't know enough about how the whole port/direct injection systems on this truck work together and play off of each other, not to mention how many dozens of other variables are tied into it. It's frustrating, I understand technology advancing and being able to control so many more details of an engine is a big part of what makes modern engines more efficient but I still feel like the ecu logic in this truck is needlessly complicated and honestly probably a bigger hindrance to efficiency than anything.

seems @Mooseditty17 is making a lot of headway with throttle adjustments as well, I'm excited to see others with the same goal and working on it, especially since I don't always have as much time to dedicate to it as I'd like

This thread is great. Shift points and ACIS are pretty big tweaks available to the average joe. A few questions:

    1. For shift points, is there a way to run datalogger and use s-mode to record preferred shift points and use the data to make changes in vft?
    2. Throttle mapping. I love the throttle feel with ECT on, but the shift points are a little aggressive for in town driving. Is there a way to copy the throttle tables from ECT to non-ECT.
    3. 5.29 AT 5th and 6th gear speed limiter - are we close to a fix yet?

    @OVTune ,
I've applied these changes to 04B41 Premium SFOB and am liking the results down low.
I'd like to extend the highlighted area to include lower values in both the RPM and engine load axis, so that the smoothing effect comes on earlier.
    Thoughts? Words of caution lol?
TBH, I had the tables looking like flat diagonal ramps at one point but was too chicken to flash it.

I did this also with 04B90 SFOB premium and noticed a big improvement down low. Could take off from almost a dead stop in 2nd gear without lugging too bad. I was also wondering about smoothing out more of the table as well

Forgot to mention I also ended up smoothing out a dip in this table.

    Good stuff.
My goal is to try and eliminate any artificial limitations down low, to get rid of that dead fish feeling as much as possible and let the engine do what it can from idle to 2k. I've always hated that feeling you get on a steepish incline, just after engaging the clutch in 1st and the rpm falls below 1k.. you press on the gas and it just balks at you until you reach some magical rpm, then it starts to take off. The smoothing of these air load tables have already improved the situation, but of course I want to go further lol. I'm thinking that if I want improvement at 800 rpm, I'll have to start the smoothing area lower than that..

You and I are on the same journey my friend. I believe this engine has enough torque down low to overcome the situation you mentioned but it's just neutered by the the ECU nannies. I need a weekend with nothing going on to play with stuff and test!

I think the next incremental change I'll make as a separate file is to expand the smoothed area lower in the engine speed axis only. If that works out, I'll play with the load axis as well.
Powering through the relearn process after each flash is a PITA, but unavoidable.
    Here goes.

I'm curious how that will work out.

I'm also wondering how much of that magical rpm that you mentioned a few posts back is from the VVT. Those are tables I'm not ready to dive into.

Same here, I'm not willing to get into valve timing without more knowledge on the subject and input from Mat.

So on the airload table subject, I've decided to go back and use the original SFOB Premium file again as a baseline to extend the smoothed areas.. my thinking is I don't want a previous modification to affect how the table is smoothed this time around. It's some kind of averaging function no doubt, so I want to "average" off the original.. if that makes sense.

Quick question for you. If I want my truck to hang onto a gear longer I should up the values for both the upshift and downshifts between the same gears correct? For all 1,2,3,4,5,6,8 tables?

That's an automatic only table. I was looking for those tables from shellshock to compare to mine and he didn't have them either

    Hey man, quick question..
How do you increase values in a cell by using a multiplier again?
