Never could figure what this scoop is for except for catching more bugs. Doesn't make the truck run any better.

There's a LOT of people who think the scoop makes the Tacoma look better (that's the scoop's function). Believe it or not, some like their Tacomas to look good.

I "had to" get a sport because it was the only Toyota on the lot

I "had to" get a sport because I love it's versatility in being both a great road AND off road truck, an I hate the looks of the OR black fender flares, especially when they turn old and gray.

i fell in love with mine the moment i saw it.
was actually test driving a 2020 GMC Sierra when it caught my eye.
Then i climbed in it for a drive!

there was almost no way I was leaving the lot without her at that point.

You can get off road truck and buy sport fenders and slam them on your off road truck... Easy.

FYI, it won't turn gray as long as you keep cleaning and put coating on it from time to time.

If it turn gray, then that means no one isn't taking care of it. I mean you leave it in the sun or nasty weather for so long without taking care of it. That's why it turns gray.

I think it's safe to say that MANY OR truck owns wish they had the skewp just by the length of this thread and the comments within.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-only-hood-swappin-n-tradin-thread.413378/page-287

Being a techie tinkering guy I would like to have the neat "toys" on the OR but for me and what I need the Sport fits the bill just fine. Now if I were off-road more, I would definitely get the OR and buy the new hood and parts associated with it and have it painted. That's what I did with my 3rd gen 4Runner Limited (w/ R Locker I used once just to see it in action at Rausch Creek PA) LOVE THE SKEWP!!!

Save the scoops for muscle cars....the tacoma is a mid-size pickup truck. At any rate imo, scoops in general look ridiculous on most trucks.

I'd say the majority would disagree with you but to each their own. Oh and I've had muscle cars being 52 years old - 69 Chevelle, 70.5 Camaro - Those cars didn't need a hood scoop to look badass... IMO

Agreed, kinda reminds me of the fascination they had with putting spoilers on all the early 2000's family sedan type cars.AwesomeAmazingGreat-2000-Toyota-Camry-2000-TOYOTA-CAMRY-LE-2017-20182018-201920172018.jpg

I wouldn't say "the majority." But yes, there are a lot of people who like it, and a lot who don't. Other than looks it serves no purpose. Even if you made it functional, Toyota says it just creates unwanted turbulence under the hood. Personally, I don't like them, but there are a lot of people who do. More power to them. I was happy when the TRD Off Road just happened to come without it, especially since the same can't be said about the 4Runner which was one of the reasons my significant other went with an SR5 4Runner. It's certainly not for everyone.

I've been stuck enough in my old 4x4 where a locker (or crawl control) would have made a difference. Glad to have it now for when it happens again.

Well i had a 66 gto with a transplanted nascar 421 super duty with the high rise intake manifold, and dual 500 quads...had the hood scoop area slightly modded to make it more functional for those carbs to breath. Had to install a 12 bolt chevelle posi rear end to handle all the extra power. That car was just badass.

BC is a beautiful place, lots of places to explore. Some of the best fishing in the world, if you are into that.

I was being sarcastic actually, i love my sport. Best vehicle i have owned.

Rear locker would have been nice as an option though.
