I'm sure this is a really dumb question, I searched around on the forum a fair bit, but vibrations are mentioned A LOT and I couldn't find my answer as plainly as I'm looking for.

When people speak of vibrations after a lift/level.
Where/how are you feeling those vibrations?
Steering wheel, body of the truck, etc?

    Thanks in advance.

The diff needle bearing is an oscillating or intermittent steady vibe in the steering wheel.

I have both, very slight, with the Stock suspension.

    Thanks!
Installed a 2/1.5 level yesterday, had some gas pedal vibrations afterwards, turned out to just be the alignment.
No steering wheel vibrations I can feel.

My tacoma truck is bone stock and i have nothing, nada so far. Don't matter what speed 2 or 4wd. My old gen1 tundra always had some slight vibration...it eventually went away around 80k miles. Oh yeah, imo for some reason toyota pickup trucks made in the last 20 years have been more sensitive to proper tire balancing then older ones.

The needle bearing was much worse on earlier years. I've seen maybe 2 that failed post 2018.

Not a tire balance thing. I have heard from folks that have it, worse than me, stock.

If it goes away when flicked into 4Hi, it's the needle bearing.

Someday I will swap in the ECGS bushing or do the freehub mod.

Good stuff. It is very hit or miss. There are relatively easy fixes though.

I have to admit this truck so far is the smoothest running truck i've had in many years. Definitely not the smoothest ride though. I guess you can't have it all.

Oh yeah. Apple to apples, the Taco is a treat.

I love the ride in mine, but the sway bar is gone. That was the key for me.

I have no issue with how the front end reacts....its compliant, and handles corners far flatter than my tundra. Its this dam rear suspension, theres hardly any give. You can feel a sharp jolt every time it hits a sharp edge bump.

Mine is nice and balanced, loaded or empty. It was just uneven bumps tossing the cab side to side. Almost 30k without it and extremely happy on road and off.

I’m curious on where you are getting this data? The needle bearings haven’t changed in years and many many many members post 2018 have had needle bearing issues once lifted and required to go aftermarket EGCS. Now complete failures where it grenades your diff is a different story. I believe this is what you are referring to correct? In that case, I completely agree

Hmm, I see it much differently I suppose. numerous threads on needle bearing failures. Anyway, not going to hijack the OPs thread. Just was inquiring is all. Take care.

A diff drop kit came with the level, but I couldn't get the spacer in. The skid plate mount has a lip on it that wouldn't let me pull it down far enough to slide the spacer in.
Its a bigger spacer then I've seen in most kits. About 1.5"
Do people have to remove that mount piece and trim it? Or should I try a 1" spacer?
I watched some videos and no one had any problems so I was scratching my head.

Are the vibes generally only felt in the steering wheel?

Well, from what i'm reading these long bed taco's have similar if not the same issues i've mentioned with mine. Guess its normal. I've already spoke with the dealers service manager about it when at my 1st visit, plus the odo issue...all they did was double check the tire pressure, and say your suspension will take awhile to settle in...truck is still very new. At least they straightened out why my odo was reading fast...its dead on now.
