Yeah, I hope they get that fire contained soon. I don't wanna see that area burn.

The fire is far enough away from badger right now that it’s not posing of problems they are just using those roads as fire access road so they’re trying to keep people off of them for fire rigs Saftey...

weather report that I saw is west winds heavy on Tuesday which will push the fire back into itself in most areas. the fire is south of badger Lake so it should be OK

I am still a bit hesitant about LeDee.

More importantly though we are having a "rare weather event" as of today. Allowed or not I am not comfortable with the fire risk.

    https://www.oregonlive.com/weather/...land-downed-trees-power-outages-possible.html

    https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/fire_wx/fwdy1.html

La Dee looks to still be open, but I am not sure why with the above in mind. Going to hold off a bit on setting the date on the next meet up. See how this all plays out. This year is an epic shit storm. :(

Welcome! Most of what we do a stock truck can do just fine. Almost everything has a bypass if you are not comfortable. My truck is still stock. A stock Tacoma is very capable off road.

This year has been a complete crap storm for sure. With the Covid, riots, hot dry weather, now wind....had two of my older dogs pass away withjn months of each other right near the beginning of Covid.

Hopefully 2021 will be better. I'm well overdue for an 8 week Sabbatical from work and have 190 hours of vacation saved up completely due to all the closures and restrictions. Nowhere to go. Heck, I didn't even purchase a fishing license this year. Usually I've killed hundreds of lbs of bottom fish by now.

I fish the ocean primarily via kayak, and with the Covid thing, all my launch locations were closed till about July, then the coastal communities really made a stink about us valley folks coming over and potentially getting them sick. So, I just didn't bother with a fishing license this year. Focused more on getting my upcoming truck upgrades figured out and knocking out the smaller ones until I can get my suspension stuff together.

Damn, these fires are getting worse! Hope these winds die down soon. Looks like they shut Mt Hood National completely down. Think they said a day to day basis but not sure. Everybody stay safe

Not at all surprised that they closed Mt Hood forest. The I5 closure is surprising though. If that stays closed for any length of time many things will be disrupted. I5 is the major artery of the west coast.

That fire map works better than any of the others I have been watching. Thanks for the link.

Yeah, I would encourage everyone to be aware of what's going on with so many fires everywhere.

Being in the woods anywhere right now is dangerous and not worth the risk. We can get back to off roading and all the things we love when the smoke has cleared...literally.

Right now there are many places in bad shape with fires raging. Be aware of changing conditions and fires spreading near you.

Let's do our best to help not cause any more fires accidentally. That means don't go in the woods to camp, shoot, etc etc...People's homes and lives could depend on it.

I'll get off the soap box now, just think about it.

Stay safe everybody and be responsible.

My fiance works in non emergency medical transportation. They are evacuating people from hospitals and care homes in many places around the Portland metro area. We live in Portland proper, and are only 30 miles (as the crow flies) from the nearest fire currently. People in Clackamas county are being evacuated in some places as of now.

Everyone in the area should be monitoring nearby fires, and ready to leave your homes if needed. This includes people in the city. Things are changing fast, and this is no joke.

    Stay safe everyone.

State managed forests now closed in NW Oregon as well. Do your part and stay home until it's safe to get out and have fun like we all want to.

Tell me about it: my parents are in Welches and have been without power for 2 days, by the way the crow flies it appears their <5 miles from a level 3 evacuation zone.
My sister is in Woodburn and is also <5 miles from a level 3 evacuation zone.

Hope you guys are doing well, if you're struggling with the smoke here's an easy way to clean the air in your house on the cheap. Picked it up a few summers ago when we were still in SW Colorado and they closed the San Juan NF due to fire/danger. The first time I'd ever seen an entire forest closed, and now that's the case for nearly the entire west coast. Tragic, tragic, tragic.

I closed up our apartment before leaving for work today (to install sliders on a very shiny Lexus 200 series...among other things...what a pain in the ass), and when I came home after running the fan all day it just smelled like, the apartment, not a campfire. It works, I just wish we didn't need them.

Yesterday I attempted some errands in my daughters 1999 Corolla. Not the most sealed up car, but I had to drive it rather than my tight cabined 2017 Taco, as the Corolla needed a set of new back tires.

Anywho.....after diddle farting around town knocking out my errands, I found myself getting a massive headache and sore swollen throat from the thick smoke in the air. At some point I came to the idea of soaking my cloth Covid mask with water and wringing it out and using it as a smoke filter. Although more difficult to pull air through the cloth, it did a remarkable job at filtering the smokey air. I've done this in the past with my Buff when camping in a smokey area (horrible neighboring campfire) and it too did a killer job of filtering the smoke. I think I will carry my Buff with me and soak as needed when out and about until this forest fire smoke clears up, as it is easier to breath through.

    Oh!

And I'm one step closer to getting my truck build moving forward.
Marie at Headstrong just got a nice chunk of my money yesterday for my ADS/Icon hybrid purchase.
Hopefully have this in hand this coming week and start the install. :sawzall::welder:

Then it's on to tires and wheels. :bananadance:
