I guess I’ve never done the stay on the water over night, Pacific Ocean isn’t that forgiving, have take a little tent to camp on land over night on multiple day yak trips.
Bargain on the yak. Would love one...

    Stock for now.. maybe
I get that... id rather be on a 26' sailboat while overnighting in the ocean but I don't imagine they are taking that into open ocean overnight without being very confident in the weather. Its a nice sunshade eitherway.. afternoon nap while trying to get a tuna or something.

OP - sorry I can't add anything since I'm a hard shell guy. I do alot of tent camping though as well but
the person that mentioned a custom canopy is a good idea but probably expensive. Always a good thing to look into and maybe you will have a better idea after speaking with that kind of specialized business

Tent on a kayak would be suited for a sheltered lake cove or backwaters of a VERY VERY slow river - definetely NOT in the ocean. There is NO way I could catch any sleep knowing that the landlord (GW shark) or butler (sea lion) could come visit me at anytime looking for a snack.

There are some cool hacks where folks fashion up a set of PVC poles on either end of the long kayak to string a hammock bewteen. I've considered playing with this for fun as well. Just stuff to try out, I guess. I like all forms of camping, so it's in my nature to fiddle with stuff.

Um, my signature is a pic of my Tundra off road. When I had my Tacoma, it came with a pro grille.

    OP,

I'm about to install the up top overland truss rack that’s compatible with a soft top. Not sure why your timeline is but It should all be put together in the next 2-3 weeks I’ll probably do a post about it on TW too.

    Good luck!
