92FF8CB3-B301-456E-BAA3-4915081D0749.jpg So my Clutch Start Cancel only works on flat ground. Which is not so great if you stall on the pictured ledge. I barely got 2 cranks of the starter then it gave up. Thought maybe my driveline was out of whack with my modest lift - 1.5” front, 3” rear, so I installed the Emu carrier bearing drop, same results. Then tested it on level ground where it works. Thinking CSC was some mighty OR weapon but that’s not my experience.

yeah unless you get taller gears it's not gonna be able to crawl you up an obstacle like that it looks pretty gnarly

Not sure how they figure a starter motor can propel the truck to crawl up or was it designed for some other purposes

Having experienced the shenanigans of MT owners in other threads, I feel obligated - it wouldn't have stalled in the first place if you had an AT.

I’d read that the Toyota proprietary CSC was loved by the off road community so I expected better. Especially when you’re in a pickle.

    Hahahahahaha

It certainly is not something I would depend on, it's slightly better with 4.88's. May be better with 5.29, but if you went to the trouble of reduction boxes, well kinda sorta would not need it anyway.

I didn’t expect it to crawl control, just wanted it to start, then I’d take over.

Toyota transfer gears are too high for it to be effective on a substantial obstacle. 4.7’s in the tcase with 4.88’s or 5.29’s is where it’s at. 4.7’s means dual cases though, so :spending:

CSC is a crucial piece of equipment: it's gotten me out of potentially unpleasant situations on the majority of trips we've been on.

The CSC allows my wife to turn the truck (and it's heat/AC) on from the passenger seat so she's comfortable while I'm packing the gear.

On the trails I just use the hand brake and both feet, but in camp it's a lifesaver!

I mainly use it for starting my pickup to warm up in the winter. I broke my left foot and couldn’t push the clutch in for 3 months, so it also came in handy for that duration of time rolling away from stoplights and stop signs.

Good catch. Was having trouble getting it to shift into 4LO which was weird because the day before was Hell’s Revenge, 4LO all day, 2nd gear only to get across sand. Anyways I attacked in 4HI, which is why I stalled. Rolled backwards, pushed clutch thru the firewall, almost, got it into 4LO and over ledge.

Yes, I stalled again on the following ledge, rolled back to a steep slope, this time not even a crank. I’m usually solo which means no spotter. Still haven’t gotten the front camera installed darn it. The 2nd ledge was short but steep. Should have stacked rocks but got a lot of momentum followed by loud bang then over. The box attached to frame that secures the bumper got squished on one end.
