Doesn’t make a lot of sense on his part, but..

 

Wasn’t gonna start, taking his “hype” and going home. Guy was average at WF but transfers to UGA and is suddenly a heisman candidate but COVID is a great cover this year, just like Ja’marr chase knew his draft stock could tank if LSU is as bad as they might be but now it’s not a bad look if you sit out.

 

If Newman started game one I don't think it would've been long before Daniels was named starter. I would've guessed they both would play in yalls opener to evaluate them both live. Too bad we don't get to find out.

 

Wasn't he going to be the 3rd or 4th string QB at UGA.

I expect Daniels to be the starter eventually, but he’s currently not even cleared for contact. D’Wan Mathis was taking snaps with the 2s and everyone seems to be impressed with him thus far.

 

I didn't know until yesterday that Daniels was only cleared to practice/work out with no contact and not yet officially cleared to play. I think the ncaa has a dart board that says cleared or not cleared and they blindfold someone once every other week and throw a dart.

 

i might catch flak by some for this but I’ve been routing for Mathis to get the nod. I feel a lot of the Georgia fan base forgot about him, bc he was no longer the new shiny object in the room. (Which this happens every year in all positions and probably all fan bases once the new recruits show up or have been signed) I remember when Mathis flipped and signed there was a lot of underlying talk about this guy. I’ve heard/read a lot of good things about his maturity, athleticism and work ethic.
I will be honest and say I didn’t know much about Newman or Daniels, just heard all the hype around them especially around Newman.

 

There is actual live football being played and all y’all want to talk about is uga. But I guess it’s better to get your excuses out now so you don’t look dumb at the end of the season.

 

Went to a game yesterday, was so good to be back in the stands after all the 2020 craziness. Plus we were on espn and won big.

I would say real college ball starts tonight, but it’s only the U of Coral Gables. Just a school who talks about how great they were 20 years ago and but can’t score a single point in a bowl game.

 

They're playing UAB, so we really won't know if they're any good this year before or after this game.

In the past they blow out their early OOC competition, then sort of fade down the stretch when entering ACC play.

But I'm thrilled we have P5 football this weekend!
