Our home is a 1932 Craftsman style bungalow, after years of neglect and people ruining it, I’m trying to bring back some of that old school charm to it

Holy shit that’s a great idea! My girlfriend(who’s not mentally re... handicapped?) loves to dance along with those things.

I just happened to be going through my security camera footage and found recordings dating back before I started demo on the whole project. I’ll let my neighbor waste his money on a survey and lawyer and then I’ll show the video.

Oz that’s a nice detail on the bottom side or the top piece. The little bevel. Haven’t seen that. The ones I’ve seen are just a flat board. Unless I never noticed.

This is something I need to do, but I called and got a quote and they said it would be around $2k to survey my ~.4 acre property. It wasn't that big of a priority at the time so I havent done it yet

What is a good price for a survey for land that small? Its square-ish so just four corners to survey.

Also will they ever just survey one side? I dont need one side surveyed, just fence line on the west side of property

They won't survey one side AFAIK. They need multiple points to verify the survey.

It's been a while since I had one done but I can't imagine it's more then $500 for 1/4 acre lot. Call around to a few places and see. I could be way off base judging by what someone else said about the cost upthread.

So I've got a little bit of experience with property lines, fences and surveys. Your neighbor is the one that should pay for the survey. If he's right he can sue you for the survey cost and make you move your fence. If you pay for the survey and he's wrong you are stuck for the cost. My surveyor, from below, told me several stories about neighbors going ballistic over fences that were just inches off the line. It seems to be a common problem.

My parents place was never really surveyed and the neighbors got along like old friends. They had built horse fences, barns and access roads everywhere. It was never a problem until my dad died and mom wanted to sell the place. Every buyers agent that looked at it freaked out. So, I had to have it surveyed to sell. In the end the buyers agents were right, and everybody was encroaching on the other. Fortunately the neighbors were decent people and they all agreed to move the lines without much discussion at all. This was 3 years ago and I paid $800 for 1 acre of land. None of the lines were straight and he had to go to the county and register all the changes. I know I got a deal, but here's a tip for finding a cheap surveyor, make friends with a guy who works for a big construction company. My friend works for one of them and he gave me their surveyor's number. The company didn't care if he used their equipment after hours and he did side work on the weekends.

I just put a fence in and had the property surveyed prior to installation. We have 1.10 acres on a fairly square lot. The markers were mostly present with 2 of them being buried and not readily findable. Surveyor came out, surveyed and located the two buried markers and measured everything out. They confirmed that all documents filed with the county were accurate and no changes needed to be made. Cost me a whopping total of $180.

maybe for kicks, borrow a metal detector from someone and see if there are any of those marker pegs buried in the corners of the yard?
