Put in 7 days out here in northern Colorado last week. A nearby fire has closed off roughly 80% of land my tag / units cover, so it's been competitive to say the least. No wall hangers, but got in a handful of muley stalks to knock the dust off. Does are out in full force, big boys are still stealthy right now. Young bucks are starting to chase tail. Taking this weekend off to head to MN and see some family while recent snow burns off, but will be back at er next week.

Deer season opened this morning. Wife got up at 5 this morning and left about 5:30. It’s raining and 70°. Rain is supposed to stop soon and 73° for the high. Hope she can shank a good buck

All I have to do is get it up the big hill (that’s why we bought a 4 wheeler last week, got my tacoma stuck last year getting one out for her). If she shoots one she always finds it and drags it to the field

    Our bow season starts today.
I never get out this early.
The temps here have gone up a bit compared to earlier this week. And it's raining again.

Friend of mine just sent me this, his son got his first compound bow kill. He’s 12 or 13 years old. So excited for him :goingcrazy:

And it’s in the back of his 1980 something toyota with a factory turbo.

    So I did a thing.
    I pulled out the Hoyt.
    I shot about 20 arrows.
    OUCH

    OUCH

    OUCH

The bullseye was looking awfully small this go around..
To be fair I had to reset my retina lock.
    Then start over.
    Very inconsistent..
    Not unexpected..

Didn’t see any cars by my house so I may have the woods to myself next weekend.
    We will see.

    ok
Crossbows not allowed in expanded archery.
For the next two years ,I believe ,crossbows are allowed during archery season. First time
This has happened. Trying to get new blood in the woods.
100 lb pull min I believe.
    Scopes allowed.
    Pistol type crossbows not allowed.
    Need a crossbow hunter’s course.

crossbows are now allowed for moose..
Allowed for one turkey season. Not sure spring or fall.
Need to go through laws to confirm but I think that’s in line.

will use the compound for expanded and then the crossbow for reg season.
I have access to a ladder stand. ( the only kind I would consider) if I want and the
Crossbow is much better suited for that stand.

Our crossbows are minimum 145 lb draw. I pulled my wife’s back Friday night with no cheater rope. I’m feeling it too

Supposed to be elk or deer hunting, but our entire state is on fire. It's eerily quiet, no birds, no wind, smoke thicker than you'd believe. All DNR land is closed. Fuckin A
