More toys are on the way. Just ordered my J59s (a long time coming), so I'll finally be able to put these sad leafs to pasture.

(and mind you: this pic is from 2011...) :anonymous:

Toys are in. And all it took was a quick 6 hour drive down to Fresno and back. Drove the Corolla, so it only cost lile $20 in gas (WAY cheaper than shipping it here).

    Might start disassembly tonight. Maybe...

Oh, and that strange orange hugh in that last pic?

It's because CA is on fire.

    Also did some engine maintenance.

    Silicon vacuum lines and plugs/wires

Note I did not choose the red color. They were back ordered on the black... and I'm impatient.

See post #68. I'm staying inside with filtered air.

Plus, I need a good 4 or 5 months to work on it...

Old ones look so sad. They should be.

Things went together pretty smoothly. Only problem was I didn't lift the rear of the frame off the ground high enough, and my jack wouldn't go low enough to fit the axle housing under the new springs.

Now they're *almost* weight supporting. Ran out of daylight before I could get everything torqued down.

Next step will be cranking the Kings back up to level it out. Or I can just stinkbug it for a while...

I was going to take some time to clean the axle housing and make it all look purdy, but then I said F it and just wanted to get it together. A little dirt don't hurt.

I haven't broken it to the wife yet that one of my 5100s was leaking oil, so I'll be in the market for new shocks, too... Probably just stick with 5100s for now. Blew my budget on the Deavers...

I bet it’ll come down an inch in the rear with a couple days of driving.

Yeah, I have Kings up front that were lowered quite a bit when I installed them, so time to move them back up.

It's actually not as bad as I thought it'd be.

It's a hair over 3" higher than before, measuring from the ground to fender flairs. Definitely hope it comes back to the 1.5" as advertised. Need to raise the Kings in front, too.

If not, I guess Ill have to take a year or so to build a rear swingout and throw an rtt on it. :anonymous:

    Got the fronts adjusted today, and installed the braided lines;

I went up (or is it down?) 3/4" on the shocks, which was right 1.5" at the wheel.

Made a custom BPV bracket. Cost me I $0 (piece of scrap I had laying around). You can't really see it, but it's offset slightly to clear the hard line that runs behind it.

I just need to play around with it a little, but I'm not worrying too much until the springs settle in.

Final verdict: Well sort of, I'm assuming the rear will settle about an inch.

    Rear will definitely settle.

Took my Dakar leaf pack almost 2 months and it dropped maybe an entire inch.

How many threads do you have exposed on your King fronts?

I had to zoom in my my pic to count: Looks like 17.

I had always heard that the shock travel to wheel travel was about 2:1, but I took a few measurements to confirm. I measured the hub/fender distance, then measured the shock length. Then I lowered the wheel 1.5" with the jack, and measured the shock again and took the difference. It was right at 3/4". So yeah, 2:1... who knew!

I had to take the shocks off to adjust them. I made a little tool out of some angle iron to hold the shock in place in a vice making that a lot easier. I put a piece of tape at the top of the collar then just twisted until I had 3/4". I didn't count turns or anything.

My truck has always sat pretty level (rrt taco lean), so I just adjusted both shocks identically.

I guess I'll break my springs in at Moab, lol.
