Sub'd b/c I can't decide on what fronts to go with. I have been leaning towards the 6112's. I have the Dobinsons rear HD leafs and a set of 5160's sitting in a room.

Actually going to post my PM response to you here too, so others can see in case someone else is looking for a similar comparison.

I'd suggest the C59-352 front coils with the IMS59-50220 front struts. That will be the proper combination to suit the weight that you'll be adding to the front with the bumper and winch. You can set those anywhere from 2" to 3", depending if you're trying to keep the rake with the rear installed, or bring the front up a bit more to level the truck out a bit.

Some difference with the 6112's to the IMS
IMS can be adjusted without disassembling the front
IMS have much stronger top seals, actually the best that you can buy, helping them last a really long time
6112's are essentially the TRD Pro front struts which were found on 4Runners for a long time. They ride great, I've been in vehicles with them, but there are limited coil options out there for them, plus they aren't rebuildable at all, so you'd swap them out for new ones if they ever were to fail.
I'm not sure exactly what piston size the 6112's use, but it's probably right around the same as the IMS.
The IMS shocks were built and valved by off-road racers (Ben Dobinson), so he knows exactly what it takes to make a long-lasting product, and also with the right valving for comfort and performance.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks
    Mike

Any idea when the rear IMS are going to be available? I’m interested but would like a matched set of shocks on all 4 corners.

also, I went in building a kit on your site. Can I order a “kit” without rear leafs? I already have a built set and am replacing my old, old bilsteins

There's still no date for the rear IMS. 4 months from now minimum.

You can order just the parts you need separately, as they're all listed and available separately. Just type the part numbers in at the top. Or I can manually enter an order for you with just what you need.

That’s annoying. Why release just the front shocks, who buys half a suspension? FJ GX and 4Runner have the full kit available.

It's that the tacoma rear shock only work on a tacoma, while FJ, 4runner and Lexus shocks work on all of those. So new products have to prioritize the best coverage first.

Thats why the fronts exist for a tacoma, because they're the same as an early FJ and 4th Gen 4runner.

Oh, and I thought about not showing the front IMS for Tacoma since we don't have rears yet, but didn't want to leave that option out. Turns out I've sold quite a few sets of front IMS only to guys that are looking for the features these offer. More fronts-only than I expected to be honest

@Crikeymike I'm very interested in this front shock, I was kind of lean toward 6112 until I ran into this, if I choose C59-314 coil (or whichever coil achieve that height and decent ride) goes with IMS59-50220 and wanted 3" of lift for my 2019 Tacoma Off Road DCSB , I just wanted to clear 285/70r17 on 17" wheels with zero offset, and have you guys assemble it (due to free mounts and assemble in May :)). Do I need to adjust it again after install it on the truck or I'm good to go? and another question How do I order the kit to select the lift height for the front shock? and do I need 1/4" spacer for taco lean? Thanks.

Hi mate. The 314s would work for you. You shouldn't need to adjust them once installed unless you need to correct a lean. You don't need the spacer because you can adjust the struts easily.

Just out of curiosity, I ordered the front IMS struts/coils, HD rear leafs, and 5160 shocks. Do I need to get extended brake lines?

No, unless they're a custom length rear shock or something

It's the basic 5160 for a 0-2" lift...….until the Dobinsons matching rears are ready

I was Goggling trying to find info on the expected date of the rear IMS shocks and this popped up. The install date is this Saturday   Looks like I'll go ahead and use the 5160's and then swap them over to the camp trailer once the rear IMS's are ready :D

Lift is done. JBA UCA, IMS struts with Dobinsons coils, HD rear leafs with 5160 shocks(until I can get the rear IMS's :D)

Thanks again Mike for all the answers to my many questions. You've definitely earned further business from me

I've heard that there are pages in the history books that spoke of the day you would finally get your suspension installed, and it is finally done!!! Truck looks great now!!

Any update on when the rear IMS shocks may show up?

I have seen unbelievable supply chain problems at work this year so I can’t imagine the pandemic has helped to speed things along.

They should be here by Christmas 2022....

Yeah, no update on those until they actually ship. The entire automotive, camping, and outdoor industry is in the same boat this year.

@gixxerphil How is the ride quality up front with the IMS shocks? What coils springs did you go with? Thanks.
