I helped it out a bit too.:spending: Not so much anymore though. I used to be a real lead foot, now people pass me. That's ok. I wave to them when they get pulled over as I pass them.

Well, you're more than welcome to believe whatever source you like for your particular state. I'm not going to sit here and argue with you about it.

In Kali it's required. I believe a car dealer must provide a front license plate bracket by law for new vehicles, but they are not required to install it. If it's a newer vehicle you can check with the dealer they might even give it to you.

Here is some more info for you on different states rules.
    https://www.autolist.com/guides/front-license-plate

For your situation, we can't tell you what to do, you need to follow your heart on this one. If a front plate is legally required in your area it's not really an option, unless you want to deal with the fall out. If you're off roading the rules of each area will apply; however, I'm not sure anyone cares as long as it legal for the trail.

In Kali it used be a $0 fix it ticket, now it's nearly $200. Which probably means $400 with "fees". So I have reformed in my recent years and have found it's not worth $$ or the hassle to be cool. Social engineering through money.

I did not like any of the goofy folding brackets and figured they would just catch on stuff and break. For simplicity, I tapped two 1/4-20 holes and used Harley Davidson seat bolts to fasten the plate. The bolts have a rubber washer that keeps them secure. They can be removed without tools. I just take the plate off when I am on backroads. It will get bent if you don’t.

    https://www.amazon.com/Davidson-Alu...p/B00JGE2PUE/ref=psdc_404681011_t2_B079NTNXJG

Likely not “secure” enough for some locales, but fine for my neighbourhood.

Pardon that the plate is on a bit crooked. There’s a bit of play in the holes in the plate. I can get the plate perfectly level if I care, which I don’t.

Totally agree, it's all very complex and obfuscated. Like everything else it's not about safety it's about money, power and control.

In California they call it "Penalty Assessments". This is not to be confused with bail, surcharges, court fees, processing fees. This is why $100 ticket (per Vehicle Code) can cost you nearly $500. Everyone gets a piece of pie here in Cali, or should I say adds on the piece the want. It's sort of like genetically modified chicken that is about 10x bigger so everyone can have what they want.

Although I'm required to run a state plate, I took it off and replaced it with a B&W John Prine Blow Up Your TV plate. It's been a few months and I haven't been stopped by the fuzz yet lol. It matches my black truck very well.

Alberta is also a rear plate only province, but if i were to attach a novelty plate...I'd go vintage Toyota related or TRD something...20200913_151932.jpg

My state requires front and rear plates but I've never put the front one on. I don't like the look of it.

I got a no front plate ticket in SF while parked at the beach. Wasnt even with my truck. Typical SF money grab. (Must have been half a dozen cars broken into there, but my license plate is their priority).
Im putting on a steel off road bumper. Now what am I going to do (Besides never going to SF again)

Bent my front plate today. No fault of the mount. Those suckers bend like creamed corn.
