LCA - best option

    It is time to tackle my lcas. the cams/bushings have seized and i want to do a bit of welding to the arms themselves so they are coming off.

    for reinstall, am i better off..

    A.) keeping oem LCAs, and swapping out bushings to the whiteline poly bushings (
    $147 w53312 front control arm bushing, black
    w53312)

    B.) buy 2 complete moog LCAs with the bushings and ball joints already installed.

    leaning towards option A but option B would be easier and almost the same price all things considered, i am just worried about part quality and durability.

    anyone running moog or mevotech lowers off of rockauto and have any input?


    my other question is whether the greasable cams by moog are a good idea, or should i just stick with oem cams and grease the living hell out of them.

    I have the moogs from rock auto. So far they have been good. Havent put a ton of stress on them yet but the quality seems solid. I was in same boat as you but decided to put in moogs and rebuild my oems for next time due to time constraints. Bought whiteline bushings and mevotech ttx ball joints for the rebuild.

    with the moogs being about $100 each i wasnt crying too much lol

    Also for the cams i started hitting them with pb blaster about a month before i did the front end rebuild and they were reusable. The oem cam bolts seem far superior to the after market options

    I would go with option A (which is what I did) and replace the ball joints with OEM parts. You can buy OEM toyota ball joints for these trucks from overseas sellers. Check pn 43330-09510 on ebay. I installed these on my truck without issues

    I put Mevotechs on mine about 10 months/13k mi ago. They're still nice and tight so no complaints there, but the ball joint boot is showing some cracking already. Not to the point of leaking grease yet, but I'm skeptical as to how long it will be until it gets to that point. Luckily I still have my originals so I'm gonna rebuild them to have on hand when these ones give up the ghost.
