2nd gen V6 4.0 shifting issue

Hello everyone,

Never had an issue with my truck so far until now. When I drive the truck on a hot or cold day while the engine is cold, the truck seems to hesitate between 2nd and 3rd gear. No engine light and it goes away after it warms up. This issue seems to come and go. Any ideas?

How many miles do you have on the fluid?

 

It was drain and replaced less than 15,000 miles ago.

Drain and fill or a full flush ?

 

Drain and fill, not a full flush. It would take a lot of convincing to get me to flush my trans. Additional info, my truck is a 2015 with 76k on it. All fluids are fresh, new plugs, I run 91 in the truck.

 

I would double check the fluid level . I did a full flush on my 2008 around 100,000 miles . If you drop the pan and clean it and the magnets before a flush it should be safe . No problems with mine . You could also add a bottle of Lubegard .

 

To me it seems odd that it comes and goes, if it was a trans slipping issue I would think that it wouldn't go away and it would only get worse.

It is all seemingly strange to me, I dont have any crazy mods on my truck. I'm running 33s and a leveling kit but that is it.

 

I’m no mechanic ,hopefully someone else will chime in here .

I had a hesitation shifting from P to D or P to R and it was the electronic doohickey on the transmission. Like a neutral safety switch ,I forget what it’s called It also needs to be adjusted after install .
