Door Clunk/Rub

Purchased a 2020 Super White SR on Friday. Noticed a door clunk/rub when closing the door. Called the dealer Saturday and they told me to bring it in Monday. I can't leave well enough alone. I have to investigate the issue myself. I snugged the bolts for the door arm. Still made the noise. Feeling around the door trying to find the issue while simultaneously opening and closing the door. At first, I thought the plastic door panel may have been out of spec and was rubbing on the weather stripping. Then I laid on the ground and opened and closed the door and noticed the noise was much louder and pronounced. So, I get out my phone to use the flashlight and I am opening and closing the door, listening, and inspecting with my flashlight. Then I sit up and see this black styrofoam sandwiched between the fender skin and the body. So, I press on it with my finger. The damn thing moved. And it is just kind of hanging out in there. As soon as I pushed forward on it and open and shut my door, the noise vanished. Would and of you happen to how if that is supposed to be glued down or fastened somehow? As soon as I take off it is going to move again and cause the noise and it drives me kinda bonkers. TIA.

 

Do not touch anything ! If Toyota notices you messed with it they can and will deny warranty repairs

 

I was not gonna tear the fender off to do it myself. Believe me. I just noticed it is moving around in there.

 

I understand but dealership are so picky when it comes to warranty they will find anything to deny it trust me I have dealership experience and also worked for Toyota . If it’s under warranty leave it alone .

The styrofoam should be there on both sides. How does the other side look?

 

It is there and is sandwiched better and more snug that the driver's side.

 

DO NOT do ANYTHING to your brand new truck!!! Make the dealer do it.
